i have had my cat for 4 years and she decided a long time ago that she did not like drinking out of a bowl. She will only drink from the faucet. If I put a water bowl down for her she flips it over into her food. Your cat may like this new gadget.

Cats HATE change. This sounds like a really big hamster cage bottle. Cats have the instinct of looking for open water. IE a bowl. One of two things will happen, your cat will figure it out or dehydrate itself looking for open water. I suggest you put a bowl of fresh water under this new thing and when kitty is drinking from the bowl, manually yourself with your finger press the metal ball causing water to flow down into the bowl. After a few times, kitty will probably get it. I don't know why anyone would even design such a thing for a cat though. It's good to have a constant source of fresh water but common...

Cats prefer fresh or running water. One of mine does so much so, it drinks from the toilet.

If you bought that type of waterer for a travel cage, I'd understand. Just take the cats head and push its nose against the ball to show it how to use the thing. Its the same way to teach kittens to eat/drink from a bowl.

Sit down by the water bottle until she comes by you. You play with the ball to let water drip out. Get a sports water bottle & let it's water run down a few drops at a time from her waterer. My cat taught herself to drink from a leaky faucet & now that's her only choice even with a bowl right beside her food.

You probably won't have much luck. That water bottle is used for hamsters and rabbits not cats. The feeling of the metal is probably not going to be appealing to your cat at all, hence she won't drink from it. Why not just give her a normal water bowl?

cats are naturally curious as i am sure you know this..i would sit with the cat over by it..maybe show him the water coming out when the metal ball is touch..and i am sure eventually your cat will catch on..believe me especially if it gets thirsty enough..it should not take long..unless your cat is picky like mines are then you might as well go back to the water bowl..you dont want your cat to get dehydrated if it just does not want to use it or just plays with it... good luck..

Drink from it yourself in front of the cat and tell her NOT to drink from it. Once you leave, she will!

My wife chases our cats off the dining room table all the time, yet at night I often catch them lounging on that very table. Brats!

I don't think cats use those- show it that water comes through the spout, maybe they will lick at it later. good luck.

I have no idea - why did you buy that? Just put down a bowl of water, or if you want something fancy, get one of those water fountain thingys they sell at pet stores.

Just lead the cat to the waterer and hope he figures it out.
