My partner and I like country walks, quiet isolated pubs with good lunches. Where's a nice out of the way place to visit ?

Yorkshire and the Lake District.

Both are famous for their walking (I live just below the Pennine Way) and have amazing scenery. They also have fab traditional pubs which generally serve good pub food.

Try visiting Hebden Bridge in West Yorkshire - it's famous for being the most liberal town in Britain and is right in the heart of the Pennines. If you do go I recommend the walk in Blake Dean, and you can visit The Ridge pub up in Colden, which is around that walking route and serves as I remember great food!

We always go to a fantastic Pub in Long Bucky, Northamptonshire called the New Inn. Its on the Grand Union Canal so you can walk right along the tow-path. The food is by far the best pub food I have ever had. It is gorgeous. To get there, the best thing to do is drive along the A5, park in the pubs car park then have a good walk up the tow-path and back to work up an appetite!
