I have done it before. I have to work before we jump on a flight and this is my only alternative.

If it's cool out & you can park in the shade & leave the windows open & the dog is in a crate with water to drink - then yes you can.
I would check on him hourly & take him out for a walk every couple of hours.
If you work in a small office where you can park near the building so you can see out of the window it should be just fine.
See if your boss will even let you bring his crate in the building & just keep him covered with a blanket so he doesn't bother anyone.

I would say not, air doesnt circulate too well in a stationary car even with a window open it can be a bit like a greenhouse also he may freak out a bit not being used to it and become really stressed.
I understand this is a problem for u tho, presumably he is crated to go on the flight so any chance u could bring the crate into wherever u work? depending on where u work of course (if its an infection control/health and safety issue like a hospital or restaurant) otherwise if hes in his cage he wont be a problem.
Or get a petsitter maybe someone can pick him up as you are finishing work and meet u at work so u can go straight on?
Look into other alternatives!
I would not do it its potentiolly dangerous to your dog, im sure u can find someone willing to help out! Good luck! x

No difficulty. go away the window open a number of inches, even if if it isn't any longer sunny outdoors. in the different case the homestead windows will steam up. he will be secure that way for plenty longer than quarter-hour yet in view that that is curiously the first time you're leaving him in the motorcar, it truly is an excellent theory to get lower back to him extremely quickly so he would not get too disenchanted. aren't from now on making a fuss about both leaving or returning, so he would not imagine it truly is a large deal.

No way! It is both illegal and cruel. The dog will dehydrate rapidly and could possibly die within an hour.

Explain the situation to your work and ask if there is a air conditioned or cozy room inside you can keep it while you work. Also give it plenty of water and lay down newspaper for it to do its bussiness.

If not arrange an early checkin for the pooch at the airport or a pet sitter that can pick you up after sitting and take you and your pooch to your flight.

Hope all goes well :)

Really depends on the dog, and how it responds to being in a car.
If it is like "Hooch" I wouldn't do it, but that is just me, I like cars with upholstery.

As long as the temperatures are cool there is nothing unsafe or cruel about doing it. It would be best if you had a dog crate in the car tho'.
I use to do it almost every day during the cool time of the year so that I could get in some training time during my lunch hours. But, my pickup is specifically set up for it.

A dog left in a warm car will most likely suffer from a heat stroke and can die a horrible death. on a WARM day the inside of a car can become like an oven and dogs are literally cooked to death. Even if you park your car in the shade - the sun changes.
leaving windows open or putting a bowl of water in the car does not help.
DO NOT DO IT - do you want to come back to your car and find that YOU were the one that killed your dog?

Everyday I would say NO, but if it's occasionally, like when you have to catch a flight and can't make it home in time to pick up your pup, I would say it would be alright. Still not the best idea. I know I wouldn't want to stay 8 hours or more in a car.

You should check with the airport and see if you can do an early check in for the dog, that way he will be in the shade in a building and you won't have to wonder all day if your dog is slowly dieing in the intense heat of the car.

it's not illegal.... if you have a day or two before the flight, just bring a thermometer instead of the dog and see what the temp rises to inside the car. if the car is in the shade you should be fine...

ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!! That is cruel! The dog needs water and to go to the bathroom! What if somebody stole it? I know somebody who left his dog in the car for a couple of minutes while he went into a bookstore and came back and she was gone. There has to be something else you can do with it!
