As far as in your checked luggage you can pretty much bring what you want as far as liquids and gels. If you are going to carry some of these items in your carry on luggage, they must be 3 oz. or less and packed in a 1 qt clear zip lock bag.
For the full list of all of the items that are and are not allowed in both your carry on and checked luggage you should go to the TSA website http://www.tsa.gov/
Hope this helps!

I put all my makeup, hairspray, gels, lotions, shampoos, conditioners in my checked in luggage...
All went well they had no problems with it.
This was in December right before Christmas.
Just make sure you put those things in a sealed bag or baggy in case something opens or leaks in flight.

Depending on where you're traveling. Here's the US Transportation Security Administration's website with their list of permitted and prohibited items: http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/prohibited/permitted-prohibited-items.shtm If you're traveling into or out of the UK and Europe, the restrictions are slightly different.... metric for one thing, and 100ml bottles (3.4 oz instead of 3 oz in a one liter bag 20 cm x 20 cm (8" x 8") instead of one quart 8" x 7.75").
If you're traveling in the US, I'd go with the smaller size bottles just to be safe, but the metric size plastic bag should be OK. Check the British Airways website: http://baa.com/

it is legal to p.c.. alcohol on your checked bags till it is amazingly severe data (ex. Bacardi 151 & Everclear) it is seen flammable. Tranferring the alcohol to a plastic bottle is an effective theory. the interest free allowance is possibly one liter, yet examine.
