*Most churches will say you have to be in their church to be baptised by their minister. If you look hard enough you may find someone who will baptise you. If you cannot find any denomination to do this then go to the Universal Life church directory of ministers here http://www.ulc.net/index.php?row=3&country=United%20States&state=Texas&first_name=&last_name=&page=minister_directory&submit=Find&minister_search=1 and you will find someone who will baptise you in your area. I have baptised dozens of people when I was a Christian, of course I usually taught them scripture and made sure they believed what I thought was truth at the time, but as someone who knows the bible, it is not the baptizer that is important, it is the person being baptized, so you could actually get someone off the street to baptize you and as long as it was meaningful to you, but I assume you want a minister and that is why I added the link because most ULC ministers should do this willingly.
I still baptise people from time to time like yourself. My ministry now is for the unchurched like yourself.*

I would go to a good church. I would recommend a Catholic Church as I believe that is the true Church. However, the best way is to try to find a Catholic friend to help you. Look for a friend who is willing to teach you about the faith and how to get baptized. Also pray to God to send you to the right Church. If you know someone from Opus Dei that would even be better. Watch EWTN on cable TV and you will know more about the Catholic Church and her teachings. You can also be baptized in a Christian Church but I still think a Catholic Church is better. You have to know the Apostle's Creed, the Our Father, Hail Mary, the Ten Commandments and be ready to profess what the Church teaches and believes. Ask the Holy Spirit and the mother of God - Mary to help you. She is very powerful and kind. Good luck and God bless you and keep you safe always. See you in heaven.

The only rule of baptism that I am aware of is that a believer must witness it. the more believers that are present, the better.
Baptism is the SYMBOLIC washing away of your old life of ignorance of the creator or God and emerging in the new life.
If I were in your situation, I would find someone, anyone who really shines with their faith and you really observe them LIVING in it and have them baptise you. You can be sure then that you are taking an oath with someone who has at least a tenable connection with the spirit.
If your faith is strong, you can baptise yourself, but most people aren't strong enough to do it, so a witness is good. A last resort is to walk into any church and ask the pastor to baptise you, but not in the name of any church. ask to be dedicated to the Holy Spirit and none else. Your Unitarian pastor could do this for you since Unitarians aren't of any single faith, but of all faiths.
Seek and You Will Find.

> I don't belong to a church
> I've just started taking my faith more seriously
It is a lot easier to be a student if you go to a school.
It is a lot easier to be a Christian if you go to a church.
That's what they are for; so like-minded people can gather, worship and learn together. Some don't do much more than that, some work together as well - feeding the homeless, sending a crew to Habitat for Humanity, etc.
You might find a church you are comfortable with and join it, or at least go to an adult Bible class and attend services for a couple of months. The UU minister at the church you work for will be able to recommend one.

Good for you in taking this step of faith -
You don't have to belong to a church -
But it would be a good idea to find a church and pastor with sound Biblical teaching that you respect.
They will probably have you attend the baptism classes, before the baptism celebration. At least, that's the way we do it at the church I attend. I don't know where you live, but here is a link to some Willow Creek Assn. churches:"

If your church does not do baptisms, call other churches in your area, you will find one that will baptize you without your being a member. If you are really getting serious about your faith, you may want to move into a church that can minister to your beliefs, like the reasons for baptism. Sounds like your hunger for the things of the Lord will move you into the direction you should go.
If you lived in Oklahoma, I would be happy to baptize you
Pastor, for 20 years.

Friend, The first step to being a True Christian is to repent of all your sins, & then by complete immursion Be Baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the remmission of all your sins(sins done in the body) & it is a promise from God that if you have done these 2 steps sincere, then He will give you the Baptism of the Holy Ghost. Acts 2:38-47 You don't have to be a member of any church, Tell the pastor that is going to baptize you that you want to be baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, if he refuse to, Then find one that will, In my church, we don't have a member ship book,& if we did, I would not sign it, because My name is already written in the book of life.

It varies. If you want to be baptized Roman Catholic or Orthodox, you will have to convert. Otherwise, most Churches should do the job if you request it. Most Protestant denominations are willing to baptize you without requiring membership. Your best bet is to go to a fairly conservative Church, like the Anglicans, Methodists, Presbyterians, Lutherans, etc., and talk to the pastor. Explain what you are looking for, and ask him/her what you should do.

First, find a true believer in YHVH. (John the Baptist was not a member of the church, let alone a pastor). Study the word, to be sure you want to accept YAHOSHUA as your Lord and Savior. Scripture says "teaching and baptizing" So if you get baptized without being taught, it doesn't count. If you have more questions please E-mail me. I don't know it all by a long shot, but I've been studying this a long time, and I have some friends who know more than I do.
