It will still get to him; not even the military can mess with the postal service.

Every platoon has a specific color. Writing his address in a certain color just helps the guys in the mail room sort faster. As far as the letter, only he will see it (it's illegal for them to open his mail) so it doesn't matter.

I never heard of something needing to be written in Green Ink, I know some businesses request forms to be filled in black ink cause it photocopies better. maybe its for sorting purposes, each area is assigned a colour, maybe if you write the envelope in green that might help! I'm sure it will get to him, it might just take a bit longer.

My husband has been in the Army for many years and I have never in my life heard of the U.S. Military deciding what color ink you should use when you write to your loved ones. Maybe see if someone at this site has any idea:

Also, why did he send you his ID tags? That makes no sense to me, since he will need them and could get into trouble by not wearing them.

well i think is very important the color if you make an official requeriment with your letter. Since many time ago all institutions had make a agreement about color black, maybe you want to make impact with your letter ussing a funny color and always your letter will be returned...

Try to use a color envelope and black ink maybe then can receive it!!!

In my 15 years in the Navy, I've NEVER heard of anything like that !!

I recall that for the flight schedule, "chits" and such, the Commanding Officer signed in RED, and the Executive Officer signed in GREEN. Everyone else signs in BLACK only !!

I hope someone finds you a satisfactory answer

There is no requirement that says letters to people in boot camp must be writtenin a certain color, or else. This is pure rubbish.

I have never heard of this. IF there was an "official" color of the military, it would be black. The reason the military requests the use of black pen is that it photocopies better than any other color.
