After Johnson won the 500 last year, there were people calling for NASCAR to take the victory away from Johnson. I feel that we are going to hear that again this year

More than likely the win will not be taken away, unless Michael was to win.
But look for new rules to go into effect about cheating and the forfiture of wins.

No. They will get to keep the victory. If either win it will be the first time ever that the Daytona 500 winner will not be the points leader after the race. Johnson did not get any driver points taken away last year. NASCAR has never been consistent in penalties from year to year. It seems it is the only sport that makes up the rules as they go along, many times in the middle of the season.

Here's the kicker, though. Whoever wins the race has to go through post-race inspection anyway. If they are found to have cheated (yet, again) there is no doubt that there will be mass hysteria and severe penalties.
Kahne and Kenseth's crews both know what they did was over the line. I think it should be that if your crew is found to have been cheating, that the driver and the whole team should be disqualified for the race. I don't care if it is Johnson or Gordon or Stewart or Junior. Think anyone would dare cheat then?
NASCAR needs to get off the whole "for-TV" kick and start keeping the sport credible.

I doubt that they will take away the win from Kahne or Kenseth if either one of them win. Last season when Jimmie Johnson's team was caught cheating they still won the race and Nascar let them keep the victory.

I do think that if Kahne or Kenseth win that Nascar will hear a lot of people being upset about it.

Now Michael Waltrip is a whole nother story....

I am sure there will be some who will protest the win, however, Nascar will perform a post race inspection. Nascar should ban any team who is caught cheating from the race, and then there won't be a problem with them winning.

But that won't be a problem for the Daytona 500 race, since Dale Jr will win it!!! Go #8.....

If any of the cheaters this year win, there will be serious screaming by fans and media. When Johnson won last year, after his crew chief was suspended, something fishy was going on.

I have a noble idea - if you get caught cheating during practice, you cannot race in the event. If you get caught cheating in the actual race, you get your points stripped for that event and get suspended for the next race.

Call me crazy, but cheating will stop when the sponsers (who spend millions) tell the teams if they cheat and get suspended, they will lose money and eventually lose the sponsership.

This is the ONLY way to stop the problem!!

Some fans will want it taken away. Especially if their favorite driver finishes second. NASCAR won't to it. Because it keeps people fired up and talking about the sport.

Bottom line is, NASCAR doesn't care who wins or who cheats so long as they make money. There will be more press coverage over Waltrips manifold between now and Sunday then there will be over the pole sitter.

There probably will, but that argument is retarded. If you get caught doing something in qualifying, then your qualifying run is thrown out. If the car is found to be "illegal" during the race, then I say that they either get 0 points for the race, or they finish 43rd and get the points for 43rd. If they get caught doing it multiple times in one year, then they get suspended from races.

With both Kasey and Matt, they will be running the race in a fully legal car so their finish should count.

It's a hard one to answer. Think of it in terms of other team sports. If one person is caught cheating, they don't make the whole team forfit, but the person who is causing the problem gets suspended.

I hope they both win first and second and third go to waltrip. Then the race will be unoffical for at least a week so they can tear apart all their cars searching for something that's not there. Let nascar make more a--es out of themselves!!!

Cheating...the offending car + all cars in the team should be ejected from the track for the current race and the one to follow.

Sponsors would get involved in policing all this nonsense.

Any one remember a few years back when Stewart's behavior earned him a fine from his sponsor?...perhaps we need to see a little more of this.
