My son doing a paper on water conservation and usage in the home, would like a survey on how much water you use in a day and what water conservation methods you are using.
Thank You in advance for serious answers.

I can't tell you how much I use in a day. But living in the country, and having a well that runs dry frequently, I've learned to conserve! I don't flush every time I urinate unless we have company. I keep a bucket in the tub to catch the water while I wait for it to heat up for a my shower, and use it to flush the toilet. I have a shut off button on my water-saver shower head, and shut off the water while washing my hair. Of course I shut off the water when brushing my teeth. I run water into a pitcher while I wait for it to get hot for dishes, and use it to water my plants with. I start with very little water in the sink to do dishes, and rinse the dishes into the wash side as I go. If the water isn't very dirty when I finish the dishes, I add a little floor cleaner and use it to wash the floor. I never water outside plants until the sun is going down. I dig a little trench around each plant, so the water only goes where it is needed. I water with a bucket, not the hose. I have barrels at the downspouts of the shed, and use that water for the garden. I don't use sprinklers at all- my grass has to make do with the rain that it gets.Hope that helps. Peace to you.

Great topic! I don't know how much we use, but here are some conservation practices we utilize:
1. Don't leave hot water running when doing dishes. Fill up the other sink for rinse water.
2. Wash almost all clothes in cold water.
3. We have rain barrels and collect rainwater from our roof to use for watering the lawn and garden.
4. Take short showers instead of long baths.

Our future plans include using rainwater for flushing the toilet, finding a way to use "grey" water for watering the garden and yard, and mulching heavily to reduce the amount of water needed for the garden.
hope this helps.

I can't say exactly how much water I use per day but I conserve water by doing simple things like turning off the shower to apply to soap to myself when I'm in the shower or turning off the tap while I'm brushing my teeth
