Or do Christians practise this method instead?

III. 6 "Love your enemies and do good to them that hate and use you - is this not the despicable philosophy of the spaniel that rolls upon its back when kicked?
III. 7 "Hate your enemies with a whole heart, and if a man smite you on one cheek, smash him on the other! Self-preservation is the highest law!
III. 8 "He who turns the other cheek is a cowardly dog!
III. 9 "...eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth, aye four fold, a hundred fold!"

It depends on the Christian, I guess. I, myself, am an athiest, but I have run into both kinds of Christians.

The Christians in my family could not care less. They don't even talk about religion, atleast around me. Whether they "love their enemies" or not depends on the individual person and their personality, not their religion.

EDIT: Also, the people that are being ignorant about your beliefs are exactly that: ignorant. They hold no respect for you, so do not bother holding any for them. No matter what their religion. They are scared of what they can not comprehend, what is not exactly like them or fits into their little stereotypical box of what a "good person" should be.

Believe me people, what religion you are should not define who you are as a person. And, you should not judge people on their beliefs, even if they do not match your own. Honestly, isn't that what being a "good Christian" is about? ;)

No, we pretty much stick with:

"But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That you may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust"

If you're living a good life whether you're christian or otherwise you shouldn't have enemies.
