I certainly cannot remember what I 'thought' in, but apparently kids pick up the ability to use SIGN language quicker than the ability of being able to speak the word. For example - moving a curved hand to your mouth (a classic 'Do you wanna beer mate? signal from the opposite end of the pub) means 'drink' and children are able to exhibit that they want a drink using this method way before being able to say the word...
Perhaps we should be 'signing' more!

There is a cartoon called Pengu shown here and other countries. The penguin just makes sounds and is understood by children all over the world apparantly. I think babies generally think in pictures and sounds before they learn to speak.

I cant remeber where I left my car keys but have vague memories of times when i was a kid before i could speak. Crazy.
Its like dreaming with your eyes open with a paralysed mouth. Ever been so drunk youre amazed and speechless? A little like that. Its peaceful and frustrating at the same time and the only way you can communicate back is by crying, gurggling or shitting yourself with a big smile on your face.

Most of our thoughts are not in any language, they are in feelings, pictures, sounds, connections to memories. Only a small part of what we think is in language. Babies don't think in language.

That's a Psycholigal and somewhat Philosophical question, my friend! Babies don't think in any language. They don't know a language yet. They only see pictures and hear sounds. Then, slowly, but surely...the baby picks up on what is being spoke around them.

I don't know, but what I can say is I am a twin, and myself and my sister created our own language, which my brother who is 13 months older than us could understand. He had to translate for my mother.
We had to have elocution lessons before we could start school.
This is apparently very common amongst twins, so I guess a child will develop their own words , its the society they live in that forces them to speak with a common tongue

Using signs gives babies a way to “talk” with their parents, before they can ... actually enhances language, cognitive, and social-emotional development
