Not all kidney conditions show up with something in the urine. You can have a normal urine test and still have something wrong with your kidneys.

However, it sort of depends on why your doctor was doing the test. Usually we would do the test if we were looking for something that WOULD show up on the urine test - like a kidney infection or something. (No point doing the test if you were looking for something that wouldn't show up)

to check the function of the kidneys a creatine and bun are usually done....those are blood test. A urinalysis will tell infection types....either wbc or rbcs in them.or also will show if you have spilled sugar over into the urine telling if you could be a diabetic or not, also if dark could show if you need more fluids, or dehydrated....if blood in them could indicate with other symptoms if you had a kidney stone then further testing. but the first 2 blood test checks function of kidneys

there re many urine tests . usually if one basic one is clean but u still have some problems with kidneys they take another kind of test and there is always blood test of course.

No, I have four of em and I didnot know it until I had busted one of them when I played football back in the day. Blood test can also tell if the kidneys are working proper.
