I have a medium sized shisha i bought in Dubai but to date cannot get the pipe to create the same smoothness / taste that they create from the pipes at the restaurant / cafe's i have smoked in. Anyone have any tips / suggestions ?

One of the biggest mistake is with the coal. A lot believe that the hotter the coal, the more smoke it will produce, the thicker the smoke, yada yada yada. Yes, it does that, but compromises the flavor most of the time, leaving that sour bitter burnt ashy taste.

The trick is in maintaining the coal. If you've just made a fresh batch, heat up enough coal to cover the "molasses". But use only half after the having a couple puffs of thick smoke. Keep the other on the side to put on when the rest begin to lose heat. Try not to stir the coal too much. Ash will enter the tobacco.

Another trick is to keep the liquid ice cold, whether it be water or cranberry juice. Water vapors will condense quicker within the smoke, creating a cleaner and thicker smoke.

No, these all are only myths!! These shisha sticks do not have tobacco, tar nicotine and chemicals which cause less health hazard to you and those around you. They also come up with huge range of flavours to choose from which are easily interchangeable unlike traditional hookah pipes.

One thing to try which is good, put some fruit in the bottom glass which is filled with water, apple is the best. This gives a slight, but better taste as the smoke comes through the water.
