Shepherd's pie is made with minced LAMB - hence the shepherd bit, brown the mince in a pan with a large chopped onion, add 1/2 teaspoon of dried rosemary and 3 lamb oxo cubes and half pint of water. Thicken with onion gravy granules, and top with creamy mashed potatoes, serve with your fave veg.

Cottage pie is made with minced beef, beef oxo's and dried mixed herbs, and a squeeze of tomato puree to make the gravy richer

It's shepherd's pie and kind of tricky these days. You just can't get the shepherds.
Mince meat, onions, carrots, salt and pepper a little stock (stock cubes and water. Potatoes, butter, milk, seasoning.
Toss the minced meat in seasoned flour, sweat down the onions, add the mince and brown, add carrots, pour the stock over stir. Leave to simmer for at least 1/2 an hour. Meanwhile boil the peeled potatoes, season with pepper and mash adding butter and milk to get the required consistency. Put the mince into an oven-proof dish, spread the mashed potato on top, mark the mash with a fork and put in a hot oven until the mash starts to colour. (Less than 10 minutes under the grill)

Easy and a nice meal. Cook up some hamburg and add onions and some mushrooms. Keep in mind this is my recipe not what you might find in a cook book. Anyway, cook up the hamburg, onions, and mushrooms. Fry them until cooked. Also cook up some taters, once they are cooked mash them up. Now, my mashed potatoes instead of milk I'll mash them using sour cream. It gives it a different taste but it is good. Once all is cooked put hamburg in bottom of pan, add kernel corn making sure there is enough to cover hamburg. You can if you want put peas instead of corn or mix the two. Once these are in pan cover all with the mashed potatoes. Throw this into the oven just to give the taters a browning or crusty look. (also help to warm the corm or peas. Now while you are cooking everything like the hamburg and taters this is when you put your seasonings in. Salt, pepper, garlic, whatever you are using for seasonings. It should come out tasty. Good Luck and hope it turns out well for you.

I use hamburger, cream style corn and mashed potatoes. Brown the beef (at least 1 lb or or) with 1/2 package onion soup mix. Add 2 cans cream style corn and put in a baking dish. Smooth the mashed 'taters over the top and bake for 1/2 hr till edges bubble. I have used the flavored instant potatoes(herb butter or whatever) when I am in a hurry and they are really yummy on it. Another topping is the frozen tater tots. Just line them up on top of the mixture and bake as usual.

I have a very quick recipe:
Brown ground beef with chopped onion, chopped mushrooms, and chopped carrot. Add a can of cream of mushroom or celery soup, a bit of sour cream, and some chicken or beef stock (you can buy them in the grocery store). Layer that mixture in the bottom of a baking dish. Buy a container of mashed potatoes at the grocery store. Mix them with some sour cream and layer them on top of the beef mixture. Top that all off with grated cheddar cheese and bake until bubbly. Since everything is already cooked all you have to do is heat it through. Oh, I forgot...if you like peas add some frozen ones to the beef mixture after it is cooked. Try this, I think you will really like it

Need to use minced beef, fry the beef with some chopped onions, garlic and anything else you want to add (such as carrots, peas). When cooked add some beef stock but do not make it too runny or the beef too wet. Place the cooked beef into an ovenproof dish and cover with mashed potatoes, then cook in the over for approx 30 mins at a temp of 200 degrees.

brown onion in pan with carrots and peas, then put into casserole dish. Then brown mince, crumbling a beef oxo over it as u do this. Add to casserole dish. Boil the kettle and put a beef or veg stock cube into a measuring jug then add 3/4 of a pint of boiling water - stir until dissolved. pour this stock over the casserole dish contents and stir, then season with salt and pepper. Cover casserole dish and cook in oven on around 170 degrees for at least an hour and a half, stirring occasionally. 15 mins before end of cooking time add some bisto gravy granules (around 4 teaspoons) to thicken sauce. Around half an hour before end of cooking time, boil potatoes until soft, then drain and mash with plenty of butter and some pepper. Remove lid from casserole and spoon over the potatoes - put back in oven for around 45 mins, or until peaks of potatoes are golden, then enjoy!!!!
