It is very easy for a person from the UK to get into the U.S.
Just fly into Mexico, then walk across our border, just as Mexicans do. If you are caught, the make a plea that you are being discriminated against because you are not Mexican. After all, if our government cannot deport 11 million illegal immigrants, then I guess you would be among them.
WELCOME TO THE USA

I immigrated from the USA to the UK.
It was on the basis of marriage (initially a fiancee Visa). Besides time consuming and very expensive it wasn't difficult.
I also have a good friend that did the opposite, she married an American and immigrated to the USA. Again the same thing, time consuming, costs and generally a long process. But the same really.
So I would say that both are equally full of red tape and costs for the legitimate person wishing to immigrate.

Countries don't typically work on reciprocal rights when it comes to visas (although there are a number of short term cultural exchange visas that do). Each country has its own rules and regulations that are imposed on all foreign nationals equally (well, almost equally). It just happens that the UK system is more streamlined that the American system.

Uh, no. The other way around. I'm a veteran of the Navy, have served in NATO ops, before, and have a security clearance, but, the UK still denies me emmigration. And, with no criminal record, even. I know plenty of Commonwealthers who live in the US as either Resident Aliens or as Naturalized Citizens, and I work for a company home officed in Windsor.

i agree with Jane's answer. and also its depend on what visa you have in UK, probably if you are non-immigrant in UK it's surely hard for you to enter in US. Yes they are right, we have tight immigration policies here!

Is it? Millions of Brits go on hoiday to the USA every year, it's not a problem, unless you are carrying firearms or a bomb.

Because the US and most other Countries have more sensible immigration policies. Our Policy is if they breathe, let them in - "Fanatic are we Sir? Please feel free to come in and murder my Wife and Children, Thank you very much Sir - You want thousands of Pounds of benefits to go with that? Feel free - Our Country Is your Oyster"
