Is is a bad thing to forcibly absolve people of sins? I just had a gentleman ( a pysch patient. and a credentialed minister) absolve me with the threat of violence. Does it still count?

What's funny (no offense for the mentally ill), is that he said "I will forcibly absolve you of your sins, if you don't confess!" This will be an entertaining day at work.

that reminds me of a scene in the movie Constantine (the keanu reeves one)

I think most religious authoritys who even believe in such a concept, would say that the absolution is within the one being absolved, and the one doing the blessing or whatever, was merely facilitating the... erm, transaction.

Forcibly absolving is just - kind of impossible, no?

Can you really be granted forgiveness from God if you did not seek it? Interesting thing to ponder. :)

No, only you can resolve the differencies between you and your chosen deity, that isn't anyone else's business.

To "forgive" is to "give for". Only the Messiah YAHOSHUA can take your sins and give you righteousness for them!

Yes it was wrong and no it does not count! Plus obviously this minister is sick and depraved. No surprise there.
