In the case of plants and animals,competition occurs when there is a shortage of food or water,space,light,or any such abiotic factors.

Well...i actually think sometimes competition occurs when two or more people want to show off and they are egocentric. They think they are the best in that particular area and so they want to proof they are the best by beating the opponent. Although competition can occur also only for fun...like school races. But the most common reason for competition are rewards!!!

1. where is this competition? on a sporting field?
2. when is this occuring? now or in the epoch before last?
3 what are you specifically referring to? the way different ant species compete for available space to build nests?
4. who are you referring to? The Australian and England Cricket teams?
