When I whistle a tune, my cat comes running to me with dialated pupils and she just stares at me. Why is she so transfixed by the sound of my whistles? My guess is that something about the pitch of a whistle tingles something in the cat. Similar to a dog whistle? Or maybe she thinks I'm a bird. Lol. :)

Dilated pupils is usually due to extreme shock. Try continuing whistling for 15 minutes and see if this knocks out the cat. Try the same experiment with the dog followed by human beings.... :-)

I used to have a cat which done exactly the same. She used to comes running as soon as I whistled. It must be the pitch.

2 of my cats fetch my hair bands, bring them back and cry until I throw them again. It's probably the frequency, if she thought you were a bird she would probably make that funny little mew sound when they see prey outside the window.

Mine does the same I think they see you making eye contact with them. Then the hear a noize so they feel you giving them attention. That's why they come over they think your calling them over to play or get scratches on their back.
