People come here for advice. Why are some people so down right mean?

I tell like it is, well sometimes. I can be blunt, but I try to stay as respectful as possible. There are some lame questions from time to time, or is it "lame askers?"

(sorry, if I have offended anyone)

Some people mistake honesty and bluntness for being mean. Some people just expect everything to be sugarcoated. Stupid questions deserve stupid answers so sarcasm can also be seen as mean. There are a lot of things that are linked to tattooing and body piercing that tick people off and their frustration and anger can be reflected by "mean" answers. When you get a 14 year old saying that she wants to pierce her navel herself or a 16 year old saying that they want a tattoo sooooo bad so they have a friend do it for them at home---that's what makes people mad. When impatient immature teenagers get it in their head that they want something and they disregard all laws and safety and are willing to do anything so they get what they want, that's what brings out the meanness in people. When the tattoo industry, which is already kind of taboo depending on who you ask, gets a bad rep because of stupid people that are too cheap or too impatient to do things the right way and have their work done professionally. And while I'm ranting....people who think that thier flash is some great piece of art. Well, sure it might be a good piece of art but it is not original. I am guilty of having flash on my body but I don't defend it for being fantastic and I know I'm not the only one who has it. Copying somebody's original piece is even worse. If you can't think of your own idea or collaborate with an artist to create something that is your own, an original one of a kind piece, then you shouldn't get tattooed at all.

besides the obvious as stated, there are people here who want to learn how to tattoo without going through the proper channels. Now for those of us hwo have worked hard to get into and be good at this profession we have to hear everyday how "dirty and dangerous" our business is. We might have the cleanest shop in the state but its still a dirty hep infested hole as far as some people are concerned simply because of people who start out on their own not knowing what theyre doing and screw up a bunch of people because of their ignorance.

Our job might not seem like the most difficult in the world but we do have to deal with blood on a daily basis, and all the pathogen training necessary to keep our shops a safe environment. Wouldn't you be a little upset if you work hard not to be a stereotype and someone insisited on being ignorant and couldnt take the time to know any better because they were stubborn.

People come on here with a feather in their hat.
I think generally everyone now-a-days hold very high self worth and that an opinion of theirs, should be an opinion of yours.
Don't take offense to the ignorance of the world.
It's everywhere you turn.
Just ignore it, or do what I do, laugh. Some peoples naive ideals are often amusement to me.
Any question is a good question. If you can't get good answers, you're asking the wrong people ;)

You are right Tatd......I am probably one of the worst about wising off. It's just that I check in here day after day....and its always the same 5 or 6 questions asked over and over and over....I want to get a tattoo what should I get? That's the worst one.....If you don't know what you want (and your live inside your skin) How the hell could I possible know? .....Sometimes I just have to bite my tongue. People don't seem to realize that a tattoo is a LIFE ALTERING CHOICE. It is not a fad like pet rocks...or wwjd bracelets....when you get tired of it...GUESS WHAT...thats too bad....its there to stay. So I really get fired up when people come on here with "Hi...uh I'm like 14 and uh like me and my friends really like Harry Potter.....and uh like I want like the Hogwarts School theme.....like tattooed on me....and like, I don't know if I want it on my butt or like my forehead you know.....Like which do you think would look cooler?" That kinda thing make me want to start drinking again.... People who have tattoos have enough stigma attached to them. Real legitimate artists have enough to deal with.....

We have all of these wonderful, generous, funny people on this site who would bend over backwards to help someone of age with legitimate concerns.....but instead about 2/3 of the questions are inane and about 3/4 of the askers are underage. So ya see tatd it's not that we're mean its just that we're jaded from answering dumb questions posted by people who only want a tattoo because everybody else has one....You are right though, sometimes I smart off when I should be giving the person asking a legitimate, thoughtful answer.
So ..... I'm going to start my new policy today.....If the question gets my blood up....I'm going to count to 10 and move on with out answering.

thanks tatd

Because, maybe, but I've noticed, almost all the tattoo questions in here are "where /what should i get" , and it is kind of annoying.
Getit wherever/whatever you want. There are only some tattoo related questions worth peoples time alot of the time.
Maybe it's just me. Who knows.

some of the people are really rude. if they do not like tattoos and think they are terrible i can not figure out why they would even come to this part of Q&A. lots of other questions they could post to on other topics.

people are always brave and intimidating behind the complete anonymity of their computer. some people always ask really rude questions to get people in a frenzy. people can be rude behind the safety of their computer, but if he/she spoke to someone rudely IRL, he or she would get punched! people who don't like tattoo's are just uptight and anal....i was told i was going to hell because i have tattoos!

You think THIS section is bad for that? You must try the LGBT section... The anonymity of the internet can really bring out the worst in people...
