We use co-op own brand lightweight, which she likes and we can afford. Her paws get very brown and she cant seem to get them clean, regardless of how often she washes them. She then leaves footprints everywhere. Can anyone think of an alternative that she wouldn't turn her nose up at or a suggestion where we can stop her getting brown paws. (She's a house cat so please don't suggest going outside.)

The co-op own brand litter we use, so far, has been the only one that my fussy cat doesn't turn her nose (or bottom) up at. We've tried the white ones and clay ones but no luck. She doesn't like ones that clump. I'm intruiged by the newspaper suggestion and she has gone on old fashioned dirt before, easier to wash off the paws. Whatever we use needs to be cheap and eco-friendly.

Tesco Value is 95p for a big bag and thats the one I use It is gray so doesnt dye their paws - I have used orange stuff in the past and my cat wanders about leaving orange paw prints everywhere.

Are your cats paws white or do you think it may have some brown in it naturally? How often do you change the litter?
I would rather get a higher brand of cat litter then have my cat's paws dyed by litter. A big sack of Tidy Cat will run you about $5.00 and lasts a over a month in our house. You only put an inch - an inch and a half in the litter box at at time.
You might try putting some Arm and Harmmer deodorizer in the litter that is white.. plus keep the box clean of solids. Get a plastic mat for when they step out of the litter box.. helps remove leftover litter from the paws.

i recognize what you're speaking about... I switched to the crystal cat muddle and that seems to hint below the scoopable. I also offered multiple rugs and mats to positioned lower than the fringe of the field, yet that did not help a lot both. in the properly, I purely offered a Swiffer Vac and go away it close to the field so i am going to easily suck up the muddle previously I step on it and music all of it over.

I assume when you say you currently use a co-op brand that means you're looking for envirnomentally friendly litter. I think the best you can do is use FELINE PINE or YESTERDAY's NEWS (recycled newspaper litter) It takes time for the cat to get used to, but its safe for kitty and the environment.
If you're wanting it to be cheap but scoopable and effective, try Scoop Away from Walmart, Winco, or a Grocery Outlet. 35# for $8-$10.00 or try Costco's Litter Perrfect all natural with lemon grass 30# for $6.95!

Have you ever tried her on a litter tray of soil/compost? It should be in her nature to go on a natural substance so get some from your garden. It will still be messy on her paws but it should come off more easily than that other stuff you are using.

i'm using the same one at the moment and it's having the same effect!!! i'm not going to get that one again, i've used a wood one before & that got everywhere so i don't recommend trying that. think it's back to the white ultra san stuff for me. x
(kwik save / somerfield do a cheap one that doesn't do the paw thing but isn't very good at odour control)

Could you try a different supermarket and use their cheap brand if you don't have much money - I think some do white litter? Try a few different brands to see.

We use Bio-Catolet (which we get at Sainsbury's - green bag) - about £4.50 for a 12ltr bag, lasts about a month. It's bio-degradable, I think made from recycled paper, and our puss has white "dipped in paint" paws which remain white...
