Stay in your car, honk your horn continuously to get attention, use a cell phone to call 911, write down the plate number and description of the car.

If the bad guy is gone before police arrive, then give them the info and if you want to they can speak to the driver and warn him/her about his/her actions. If a criminal offence occured they can lay charges as well (if that's what you want).

Stay in your car. Drive to a Police Station.

Some road bullies are so unaware that they might try to tell the Police what you did, while incriminating themselves. I've actually seen that happen when my friend's grandfather was attacked by another driver. I happened to be cycling the other way and saw the whole thing. The other driver also went to the Police Station to try to explain. When they saw a rugby forward in his mid-20's standing next to a 70 year-old physics professor, it told the Police everything they needed to know.

Or drive to a petrol station and get near a security camera. Get to where others can see you. They might not jump in to help, but they may be useful witnesses (and First Aid) after the event.

I dont know exactly what you should do in this situation but id like to , ive also had the same problem. I had someone get out of their car and try to confront me for some imaginary slight. He got out of his car and came over to my car at a light and was looking for a fight. All I can tell you from experience is dont get out of the car and lock the doors if the guy is angry. I assume if you fear youre in danger call the cops or 911. Other than that I dont know. Id like some answers to this one too.

Carry a cell phone and dial 911 in front of him and tell the dispatcher what is going on. You'll have maybe 5 seconds to do so before being hit or they'll run away. But make sure the evidence shows you were in danger.

Be the bigger driver and ignore them. If they persist, call 9-1-1 and report them. They should be taken care of by the local authorities.

If you have a cellphone, copy their plate number, and car description, complete with description of driver, and report them to the cops for reckless endangerment. Heck! Take a picture of them doing it!

Had a guy get out of his truck and began screaming at me at a red light. I waved, beeped my little Honda horn, and drove off.
End of story.

Had I been a butt-hole, I would have flashed my fire badge... But hey, enough assholes in the world, I say.

Do what I did. It worked for me! Act like you're getting a pencil and paper out of your glove compartment and writing his license plate number down. Also, use your cell phone to pretend to call for help.
