When the thought comes, think of something else instead. Death will take care of itself when it comes, so don't need to think about it now. Right?

I can only answer this from my own perspective. I suggest you check out the Bible because it has the answer to your question in many places. Turn your life over to God, and amazingly that fear will subside. Perhaps seek some guidance from someone that really can help enlighten you with an assurance that if you know and have a personal relationship with Him, there's no reason to fear death. I think about my own death too, and I don't want to die because of many reasons...friends and family left behind. But that is only temporary. I'll stop now because if I were a book writer, this one topic would cover many pages. Start with Psalm 23:4.

Maybe you fear death because you cannot accept your own mortality; you cling dearly to life. If you were on life support, would you tell the doctors to keep it up for as long as possible? It's not a bad thing to want to live; but wanting life too much creates a fear of death.
Maybe you should experience death. No, not you personally. Go to a funeral, talk to clergy who speak at funerals, help out at a animal shelter. People, animals, plants die every moment; and are born every moment. Life is a cycle, not a endless road.

There's no reason to fear death more like something to look forward to
I know this sounds a little wierd ,but just think you get to live a life then die to live another life.
I am a christian so i believe that all good i do in this life will be rewarded when i get to heaven.
some people dont believe in Christ and thats ok but honestly wouldnt it be nice if you could go off to sleep one night/day only to awake in a another place where all the people in it has been waiting for you?
i am actually really looking forward to death but i will not take my life because God has put me here for a reason i think once i have fullfilled my life then i will die and go to this special place.
i understand people die everyday but everyone has a time place and date when they will come to pass and only God knows when this time will come,
i believe those who have died before thier mission complete was for a reason.
So dont be afraid have FAITH that everything will be ok
because it will
i have had good freinds who have passed and I didnt understand why
I was really sad that they left, but i believe that oneday i will go up to heaven and see them all again,
just knowing that, is worth living this life 3 times over just to see thier beautiful faces again
Anyway i hoped i helped you out, mail me if you have any other questions, bye

Well... I am in the boat with you.... I have an intense fear of death also but over the years it has gotten easier. It is part of panic disorder....depression. Psychotherapy helps...really.

I used to be that way until my father died. Now it does't bother me at all. Losing someone very close to you does that.
