First, I'd try the Toll Saver option (TS) if available. Sometimes this will let it ring many times before answering, however once you do get a message, it will answer pretty much right away until you go check your messages again. Other than that, if 4 rings is the maximum you can set it to, there's not much you can do. Buying an external device that could possibly extend the amount of rings would likely cost as much as another answering machine. My advice would be if you just recently bought this, box it back up and take it back to the store you've got it from. When you get another, check the models and make sure it will answer after the amount of rings you want it to. There are a couple of GE answering machine models, 29861GE2 and 29869GE2 that will pick up after 8 rings, as you can set them to anywhere between 2 and 8. These cost between $20 and $30 depending on where you get them at.

I'm not familiar with your particular model number but I do know that there are parameters on most Ans. Mach. that can be programmed for the number of rings. I assume you do not have the owners manual. The maching I have can be set for a max of up to four rings before the calling party hears the recorded announcement to leave a message.
