Here is one for you guys:

A fight between Barrera in his prime, and Pep in his prime, at Featherweight, over the old Championship limit of 15 rounds.

Which of these magnificent warriors would prevail, and why? And would this contest have the potential to be a Superfight?

Barrera wins the fight hands down. More speed, more power than Pep.

Very good question and this would have been a pretty good fight. Pep is one of the greatest fighters of all time and would have to be considered one of the all time pound for pound greatest fighters as well. He had an outstanding record of 230-11 and won his first 63 fights. He was very elusive, clever, a great boxer, speedy, had great footwork and finesse. Barrera is one of the best fighters to come out of Mexico since the late great Salvador Sanchez and is a warrior with a good punch and certainly one of the best pound for pound fighters today with a record of 63-4. I believe that Willie Pep would outbox the aggresssive Barrera using his superior speed and elusiveness to stay away from Barrera's power advantage. Barrera would land some good shots but would be unable to land many combinations against the speedy and clever Pep. Pep would probably look the worse for wear after the fight but would win the unanimous decision in a very good fight.

Pep would box circles around Barrera. Marco Antonio would press the fight and keep it competitive, but Pep would a bit too slick for the man from Mexico City. Willie Pep by a close unanimous decision.

Prime to prime, I would pick Willie to win by unanimous/majority decision. Pep is a very smart fighter. He fights out of instincts. It's as if he was made for boxing. Sandy Saddler had his number, though. Saddler was a very slick boxer that somehow overshadowed Pep's ring generalship. Barrera's Saddler would be my countryman, Manny Pacquiao. Barrera's style will not faze Manny's rythm.
Willie Pep will outbox Barrera and his defense will be his primary asset. I think Barrera would throw a lot more punches, but Willie knows every trick in the book because he virtually wrote it. Barrera will have his moments in the fight, that's for certain. Pep, however, is just too experienced and mature for him to panic at whatever Barrera gives him. In the end, I see the scorecards (ten-point-must system) looking something similar to this: 116-112,Pep; 115-113,Pep; 114-114.

Unless Barrera is the second coming of Sandy Saddler no. Willie Pep takes a unanimous decision.
