I believe that the public have donated so much money and clothes to charities that it hurts! what you should be asking is "What can we do to get Governments to donate more funds to charities!" You must admit that Governments donate far more money on military equipment i.e. Planes, tanks, ships, missiles, bombs, and guns! Can you imagine if the money spent in Iraq alone was given to Charity by the countries in conflict there it would solve the poor peoples problem overnight! But! pigs might fly first, don't you think? Have a good day!

To get donations from people is nowadays a real problem as there are many fake organisations and people who create this problem by collecting money from the public. So we have to open the eyes of the people by conducting some cultural programmes by these kids who need charity and show the cause and publish so that the people will see the reason and the people who are in need and decide to give charity to such needy people. We should avoid begging and give the chance to show talents of such underprivileged people so that we the public who can afford to give charity in any form will help such people.

In addition to donation of funds, I think it is important for people to connect with their community by donating their time.

If you donate just one hour of time to any of your local charities or non-profit agencies, it can make a world of difference, and help people see the difference they are making in the lives of others.

I've been promoting volunteering for quite a while, and I truly believe that if people spend a little time making a difference, then they may be more inclined to donate funds to those specific causes.

I have had a great experience of working with a wonderful volunteer organization. I can't think of a better place to provide funding because I see the difference that the organization makes in the lives of many people throughout the county on a daily basis.

People need to see what is happening to their donations. Many people believe that their money goes to making a good life for the fund raisers with little going to the charities donated to. Show results and how these results effect the world around them. Make people see, then make them think.

check out Give.org for Charity ratings...then choose the one you'd like to promote.
I personally like CRS - Catholic Relief Services. They have wonderful information about exactly how the donations are spent. They also provide informative materials to present to others.
