It's better than nothing!!! No seriously, how is his track record for gift ideas? Sometimes, people who are bad at gift ideas buy a gift that they would love to receive themselves, therefore they think it's a great gift. Children tend to buy gifts this way, and so do some adults. Maybe he was excited about the idea of this as a gift, but just never stopped to actually figure out if you would also be excited about it. I'm sure he didn't mean any harm by it, but he could have been a bit more thoughtful.

If your relationship is really good otherwise, I would take it that he bought it thinking it would be fun for the two of you to watch it together. (It really was more for him than for you.) Next time you are in a situation to buy him a gift... do the same thing. Buy something that is obviously for you. He'll get the hint and maybe the two of you will have a good laugh over it.

The bottom line is... ok, maybe it wasn't the perfect gift. But, it was a gift. Look at the relationship as a whole before you get upset over it.

I would feel happy that he had remembered Valentines day and go out and buy some nice wine and good chocolate so that whilst sitting through the movies I could spend time with him relaxing.

I would very blessed to have a guy who has a unique taste. i would be proud that my man does not go with the crowd. Thpugh i would feel dejected cos the things i had expected did not come forth. then i would feel like i failed to tell this guy what i want for valentine, so he bought me something that he thought i should have.I would treasure this gift cos it definately means alot to him. i would make some time later in the evning to try and find out what significance it has in his life so that i can start sharing in it.

It depends if it was something i liked, if i liked it id be happy, id rather have something that i could use like that than a huge teddy bear holdng a love heart. Its not my thing tho so id be a bit pissed oof, but then again me being me id ask for the receipt to exchange it for something is did like.

Valentines day is a bit commercialised these days, i dont think you should wait for a certain day of the year to show your love for someone.

I'd kinda think it was a gift brought more along the lines of himself in mind! But it was still a gift! Enjoy the time snuggled up on the sofa watching it together! x

Depends if you like the films or not. I remember my husband once bought me an album for my birthday and I didn't even like the artist. I did just come out with it and say 'Hey you bought this for yourself!' and then he got me something else. We have an honest relationship which helps.

It sounds like he bought you what he wanted for Valentine's. I would not get made at him though, but what I would do is by him some hair curlers for Christmas. Just make sure the next gift you get for him is really something you want. Maybe you like going to the Opera and he does not. In that case, Opera tickets would be a perfect gift for you to get him.
