If the mother is addicted to drugs *or even weed*, that is perfect grounds for the authorities to step in and remove the child. Getting the evidence of this can be tricky though. There is a legal amount in certain states you can have on your premises. The only thing is you can't use it, sell it, buy it, or transport it. Kinda dumb I know, but that is where we are in the world today. Another thing is you want to make sure that there isn't a prescription for the drug. That can be another exception. If you don't want to be the one your daughter/daughter in-law comes after for turning her in, be sure to call authorities in the middle of the afternoon *evenings are generally best though* and tell them that you suspect that she is doing this. They will not say "Your Mother/Mother in-law called us......" if you tell them not to disclose that. They will come inside the house and look at the child, the apartment, and other various things and will determine then if the baby is in an unsafe environment. The baby will then be removed to Children's Services or can be temporarily placed with you. This is a pretty clean cut run through of what can be done. If you have anymore questions feel free to email me at gannon.cp@gmail.com . I wish you well and the best of luck!

thats a hard one because if you do whats right for your grandchild and she does get removed from her mothers care will she suffer more with not being with her mum. Only you know how bad the situation is and if you really feel she would be better of away from her mum do whatever you need to do. Any child welfare organisation will take calls seriously especially if they get a few calls.
Im not a grandmother but a mum, a very overprotective mum

For all intents and applications gravity does not exist via fact there is not any precise description of ways the stress grow to be appear a minimum of on the small scale. Even via definition in terms of the familiar style gravity does not exist in any actual sense, that's a digital particle and has no fabric properties. technology can no longer justify the existence of gravity and in lots of situations it may no longer accurately describe its outcomes. GR theory sucks via fact it form of feels to be very sturdy at telling us what could ensue whether it falls aside the closer we glance. How do we overthrow this tyrant, that's what technology is attempting to do amazing now. there may well be crimson elephants flying out of your butt in a parallel length yet till you supply empirical info I doubt you will persuade a skeptic, its no longer impossible basically unbelievable.

You need to find a way to prove she is unfit to have that baby and then to ask the court to place the baby with you if she is as bad as you say then as a grandmother you need to look out for what is best for this child and don't think of it as sticking your noise in her bizzness thing of it as loveing your grandchildgood luck

If she is getting high they can test for that, call social services and they will investigate. If it comes back negative she will still be under scrutiny of her care of the child. If she is really doing a poor job they will take the child away, just keep in mind you may not see them once they get put into foster care.

The two answers here are spot on, don't worry about 'offending' anybody, that baby is the most important thing now.
Don't leave it and in a while when something AWFUL or TRAGIC has happened, look back and think, "I wish to God I'd done something".
You already know what you have to do.
Think of that little baby girl.
