I used to live and study in US and have credit cards there. Then I went back to my home country for holiday but something happened and i didnt go back to US anymore until now. so basically all my things are unsettled there including not paying off credit cards. Its been 7 years. I am thinking of going back to US for holiday sometimes soon but will i be stopped in immigration checkpoint because of this and be demanded to pay off the credit cards? I wish I settle all my things last time..but it has been such a long time..i have no idea what happen already with all my credit card or credit history.

Bad Credit, Americans rely on credit. However if it has been seven years, your debts may be off your credit report. Go on line to Experian Credit and do a check on yourself and see what it left. They will not stop you at customs for being in debt.

There is a Statute of Limitations on debts which differs in each state. A debt may show on a credit report but if the statute of limitaions has passed you do not have to pay the debt. The link below may help you.

If I were you, I'd contact the credit card company(ies) and find out. They might have placed a judgement on you, or placed you in contempt of court for not showing at the judgement. If they did, there might be a warrant for your arrest. Contact them.
