No. I didn't tell you that because I wanted to impress you.
I wanted to discuss raising in the dark, and I also think it's something you should do on occasion.
Why would you ever want to raise without seeing your cards? Well it's not to fool yourself, it's to fool the table.
The gist of it is that sometimes raise in the dark to the cap if possible preflop. Then bet out every round. If somebody bets first or raises then and only then look.
The logic behind this is that there are times when you really don't want to know what your cards are. For instance, it folds to you on the button and the blinds are extremely tight. In a tournament with the antes and blinds, there's often enough in the pot that you should raise literally every time. You know the blinds won't give you action unless they wake up with a big hand. Of course, use discretion, you need to know the blinds are tight players. If they defend, then you should just fold here often, because you won't win the pot often enough. Or, alternatively, just look at your cards first and raise when they warrant it.

On the one hand, raising in the dark is boiling the game down to it's most basic element: You against them, getting in their head, making them think you have something you don't, etc.....however, if you do it before you HAVE cards...well that's just dumb.
