I suppose it depends on why they're prostituting. Could be they've fallen in with a bad crowd, got sucked into a drug culture/gang culture and need the money for their habit. It is easy to blame the parents and often it is their fault. But how much is our society to blame?
Unfortunately, kids don't come with instruction manuals and even if they did, some parents don't deserve to be parents.

That would probably go on a case by case basis. By and large we all make choices in life some good and some bad. Unfortunately many children go through a stage where at the age of 14 they think they know more than their parents, teachers and everyone else who has ever been 14 before. They make bad choices and then want to place blame. I am sure that we could here answers ranging from there was physical abuse at home to someone got grounded for a weekend or even better because their parents put them in timeout when they were little.

The choice was theirs, their parents may have been a contributing factor in making that choice, but they are still the ones who made that choice and must accept the responsibility for it.

I would defintely think the parenting style would be a true contribution to such a choice.

Integrity is the first issue. Lack of being told what integrity is moreso.
Making money by forgetting how precious ones body and affections are. Well, thats sad.

Now, if it was someone who lacked money, a family who lacked money, and the young girl did what she did, because she tried her best to help her family..or her kid when no other alternative was present -- well thats alot different then somee girl who just wants all the nice things in life.

Because I would think a father would be willing to work 2, 3 jobs to keep his daughter from resorting from such a terrible choice of occupations.

Now, I live in the real world where parents and kids sometimes just dont see eye to eye.
And kids can be as difficult as parents expectations.

So if it was rebellion, then its a shame.
But no young girl should have to resort to that lifestyle, and I as a parent would feel it my failure if my daughter would ever do somethign like that.

I will work 3 shifts at mcdonalds if I had to to keep my daughter from having to do that

It is the fault of the girls. Everyone needs to be responsible for their own decisions.

(Sometimes, this does represent a failure on the part of the parents, though, and when it leads to a permenant runaway situation, the failure is likely to be one of severe abuse or neglect. I knew one girl who was simply an orphan. She didn't have bad parents, she had dead parents.)

no, i don't think so. Prostitution is usually the case if : -
1. Someone promises a girl to get a job overseas, takes her there and sells her off.
2. The girl runs away and gets married and her husband sells her off
3. Her husband/boyrfriend/uncle etc pimps her
4. The girl can't afford the cost of living, can't get a job and then takes up prostitution.

Conclusion: I think it is out of desperation, i don't think parents are the reason.
