In thefollowing answers link, Daizy wrote that the Christians were from the liniage of Abraham & Sarah who had Isaac and that Islam was from Abram & Hagar who had Ismael. Is this what your religion actually teaches? And if so, it kind of bothers me that the religion was formed out of sin. According to the Bible, Sarai had not enough faith to believe God's promise would be fulfilled through her, so she talked Abram into having a child with her maid servant Hagar. Thus, creating the his son Ismael. This caused her nothing but sorrow. Once Sarah had Isaac, she became angry with Hagar and told Abraham to send her and Ismael away. God told Abraham to do as Sarah wished. Ismael had 12 sons and they lived in hostility to all their brothers (Isaac and his desendants.) Genesis Ch. 15-25

I did not say that Abram committed adultry, I know that he married Hagar. And even King David who was a man after God's own heart committed adultry, so I am not even concerned about that either. The thing is, that a lack of faith is a sin. As for Christians descending from Abraham, that is not what I believe, that is what Daizy said in her answer. I believe that as in Romans 3:23 ALL have sinned and fall short of the glory of God and that no one is perfect except for Jesus the Messiah.

There are Messianic Jews who have become Christians, but that has nothing to do with their ancestry. Most Christians are "Gentiles" and therefore have not come from any Jewish bloodline.

My question was just asking whether or not muslims believe that they are descended from Ismael or not. If so, then that helps me understand why there is so much hatred between them and the Jews.

Answer to Additional details:

As opposed to Judaism which is only passed down from one generation to the next, Islam does not limit itself to blood lineage, anyone can accept Islam and become a muslim. Although, most of the Arab race can be said to be the descendants of Abraham through Ismail. This does not mean that all muslims are Arabs, the majority of muslims are of non-Arab descent.

Hey you are Lost!

Prophet Abraham was a 'Prophet'. All prophets shunned adultery. How can this Prophet commit it???

Prophet Abraham married Hagar and they had a son called as Ismaeel. Dont trust the bible, its corrupted by the Church. It even says Prophet David slept with his daughter! Dont you understand?

And Abraham left Hagar and Ismaeel into Makkah (which was deserted at that time) ONLY by the will of GOD. It was NOT under pressure from Saraa.

Almighty GOD wanted the Last and Final Prophet to be from Abraham's dynasty and be born in Makkah (the center of the Earth).

Peace Be With you.

I can't really see what your question is, but I wish to correct a mistake you made. Christians don't enter into the story you have quoted. The 12 tribes of Israel were the descendants of Abraham and Sarah, whereas the Arab people descended from Abraham and Hagar through Ismael. This is an Old Testament story which has nothing to do with Christianity.

The bible is written by human to distort the truth about Islam. Hagar( Siti Hajar for muslims), is not a servant but also the wife of Abraham in Islam.

God promised them a child and when it wasn't given to them "when they thought it was time" they decided to "help God out", that's the one thing they should have never done. God works in His time, not ours. God had promised them and they should have trusted in the Lord that they would one day get that child.
In the Bible God told Hagar that Ishmael would be a wild donkey of a man and his hand will be against everyone and everyone's hand against him.

so you are saying that Abraham who was a prophet of God committed adultery..... what a nice belief.

And you are projecting the fact that you get from Christianity that we inherit the sin of our parents?. do you really believe that?

we are born sin free and Abraham married his slave Hagar this is what we believe

God bless
