It's recommended that for home ear cleaning and wax removal that people use warm water only. This is to prevent damage to the ear drum which is extremely sensitive. If you go to the doctor's office, they use a mixture of water and hydrogen peroxide. A syringe is used to flush the ear canal out, but it is not recommended that you use a straight tipped syringe at home, because you can ruputre the ear drum. Curved syringes are available, but I would be extremely careful when using these at home. Here is a site where I found some information and syringes available.

After years of ear-aches and having my ears flushed by hospital I figured it out. Get a massaging hand held shower head. Turn the water on as warm and hard as you can stand it. Then turn your head with the ear you want to flush pointing down. Now stick that shower head on streaming single pulse up to your ear and flush away. The warmest water feels good and no more clogged up ears. Do this often and no more ear aches either. I also found out staying out of smokey environments help. After wards, be sure to dry out thoroughly with tissue, and maybe cleanse with a little hydrogen peroxide then dry again.

there are- at the grocery store or pharmacy they are on the aisle with the eye drops. or you can make your own by mixing vinegar and rubbing alcohol. you don't want to use anything that will eventually turn into water in your ear (like peroxide). it will just make a nice growth median for bacteria.
