My dad died when I was 5 and my mother when I was 19. I have no brothers and sisters but have somehow muddled through life but still scarred by unfortunate past. Just wondered if there is anyone who has suffered similar misfortune and wondered how they have coped?

I lost my mom when I was 8 years old. I'm 71 and I still miss her and the mother daughter relationship that is so important for ever girl.

My father was always working. More like a workaholic.
He died after I married. I miss him too.

I am very independent because of it and I bet you are too.
When you don't have both parents, you have to grow up fast.

I can identify with your situation and feel your pain.

I would like to share a poem that comforts me concerning their death.

Don’t cry at my grave , cause I won’t be there.
I’ll be in the breeze ,that ruffles your hair.
I’ll be in the sunshine. I’ll be in the snow.
I’ll be in the places, that we use to go.
Ill be in your laughter and in funny things.
I’ll be in your shadow and there in your dreams.
I’ll be in your greetings but not your goodbyes.
I’ll be in the reflection, of your loving eyes.
I’ll always be with you and I’ll always care.
Don’t cry at my grave side cause I won’t be there.

Do what you have to do and do the best you can to the best of you ability. Be all you can be.

Forgive the past and yourself and take each day as it comes at you and you will be okay.

i lost my mom when i was 3 and my dad when i was 7. I had older brothers but they really were no help at all because some still can't cope and it has been almost 30 yrs. All I can say is take it one day at a time. all we can do is muddle through and deal with what we are given. It is not easy and at times seems utterly impossible but in reality we can make it through anything and you will make it through this too. I spoke with some counselors and now i help with young kids who have or are going through the same thing. one thing that i always remind myself of is that even though i have had an unfortunate past there is someone out there who has probably had it worse.............
Good luck to you and i hope things get easier for you soon.

I have lost both parents and it is not easy. I miss them terribly and sometimes I feel so empty and sad without them. Matter of fact today is the anniversary of my mothers death and it hurts so bad. The only way that I could cope is to have faith in God and believe that they are better off in Heaven and someday we will be together again. If I get sad I just look up to God and pray that they are doing good and neither of them will suffer again as they did on earth. That's how I keep my sanity and peace of mind. Good Luck to you my friend. I am fortunate that I do have a brother and sister and we cope together. Talk it out with you minister or a friend when you get down,it helps. God Bless you friend.

My father died when I was 14, my mom is stiil alive, but I grew up with my grandparents, I have a bad relationship with my mom. We haven't met for nearly 20 years. I even don't know where she lives. Both my grdpats died 3 years ago. I am a export guy in a trading firm in a Chinese city called Shenzhen which is the 4th richest city in China. My income is 3 times higher than China's national average. I think I am just doing fine, but I don't like making friends, perhaps partially b/c my family experience.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune. I am fortunate to have both parents alive with two siblings as well. However, my husband lost his parents 5 years apart. He had a very tough time dealing with both losses. I admire you for your strength. I hope you are supported by food friends/and or a spouse.

Im all alone in this world too except for my 17 year old son. Both of my parents are passed away and so are grandparents. Its really hard to be all alone- I know! Especially around the holidays and special occassions!
