I never smoked, but my friend has. I was with her through the months it took her to stop. Anyways. She stopped smoking by constantly chewing gum. Everytime she needed a cigarette, she threw a piece of gum into her mouth instead. It doesn't work with everyone, but it seemed to work well for her.

it was hard but i did it cold turkey. what i found worked to stop was i carried a straw and a pack of gum in my pocket and when ever i felt like smoking i would either chew gum or chew on the straw also i started going to the gym stay away from places and events that make you want to smoke for at least 2 weeks. places like bars, clubs and events or actions that make you want to smoke. like drinking. if you ever get stressed out and feel you need a cigarette just go for a quick walk. these were just some things that worked for me everyone is different so what works for one might not for others the key to quiting is doing all at once and having friends to support you. and because nicotine is a drug that is very addictive think of it like heroin( a little out there but they are but just as addictive) if you're hooked on heroine and want to quit you dont say " ok i'll take just a little less each day" you stop all at once ... same with cigarettes. the patch, the gum, the pill, all of those are just like saying oh im just gonna take a little just to get a fix.

First you have to stop drinking, PERIOD. The first drink lowers your ambition, and the two go hand in hand. Also, when drinking your usually around other smokers. Other smokers will not be supportive of your decision. Now that you don't have the alcohol lowering your ambition, and your not hanging around other smokers, like at night, around a bar, then quit and go cold turkey.

I would have never stopped until I realised how the smoking was affecting my body!
I realised this when I went to swimming with my old mates one day. I used to beat them in the swimming carnival in old days... but that time... oh I just couldnt breathe! They just kicked the hell out of me.
After that, I felt it's really killing me... took me a while but gradually I quit.

started chewing, then went to the gum. Trading habits is way easier than "cold turkey", make sure you pick a safe habit to take its place
