get a better straightener..
Check www.folica.com
Trust me.. It makes a HUGE difference
I suggest Solia or Sedu.. Check up reviews on the straightener also.. Some of the better straighteners are pretty pricey.. but trust me.. i've had mine for 2 years so far and its worth every penny

I have the same kind of hair and it is hell keeping it straight and slick. I blow dry it and then I go over it twice with a GHD. The GHD makes it Asian straight and it lasts for a week. It's a good idea to apply hair serum after to keep it in control. GHD's are the best!

i would make sure you are using styling products made for you. I use the sun-silk line, i think the blue one is for poofy hair, it works great on me. It also smells great and makes my hair super soft. I use serum also. Just keep in mind flat irons are hard on your hair so make sure you condition it really really good! and use a finishing spray.
