It would be best to go to a sound shop and get a factory wiring harness but it sounds like your almost there with what you have! It sounds like a bad ground. If the ground doesn't have a good connection, it is the same as unhooking the battery every time! But it could be the memory cable is not hooked up, on almost all car stereos the orange wire is the memory!!!!!!! Locate it and run it to a fuse like the 4way flashers. They have power all the time.

Vauxhalls have a standard ISO connector but the ignition and permanent live are the opposite way around to Japanese radios.
The Sony wiring loom will have a red wire for ignition feed and a yellow wire for permanent. These will have a bullet type connector in so you can swap them over. Do this and it should be ok.

after or when you have tuned in your radio make sure you are pressing the memory button to store your stations. or your stereo might be the one were you have to hold down the button 1 2 3 or so on to store it in that place.

OR if it isn't a live power at all times you need to run a RED wire straight from the battery + or use the one from the ciggy lighter.
RED = live power +

there is the yellow cord and pink you've them blend up the yellow one is correct or acc wich means it in trouble-free terms turns in to potential at the same time as u turn on the most important and there is batt wich is potential each and each and every of the time wich isn't what activates the stereo yet keeps all of your presets and radio stations etc
