Use a good sunblock like Banana Boat or Sun Sense.

Alternatively, you could try these home-remedies to remove tan:

Mix 1 table spoon of milk powder, 1 table spoon of honey, 1 table spoon of lemon juice, and ½ table spoon of almond oil. Apply on face and wash off after 10-15 minutes. This pack helps bring shine to the skin and also removes tan.

Mix oatmeal with curd and tomato juice and apply on the face. Keep it on for 20 minutes and then wash it off with cold water. It helps remove the tan and lightens the skin.

Place sliced raw potato on the face. It helps reduce blemishes and other marks.

Applying turmeric powder along with lime juice removes the tan. Lime juice is natural bleach.

Dried orange peels mixed with curd also help reduce blemishes and scars. Wash off this mixture with cold water after 15 minutes.

Soak 4 almonds overnight. Grind into a fine paste using milk. Apply on face and neck and leave it overnight. Wash with cold water in the morning. Do this daily for 15 days, followed by twice a week.

A table spoon of gram flour mixed with 2 table spoon of raw milk and 2-3 drops of lime juice works well for lightening dark skin. Apply this mixture and leave it for 15 minutes before washing off. Repeat for 4 weeks and follow up with once a week.

Apply a paste of fresh ground mint leaves and leave it for about 20 minutes. Wash with cold water, continue for 15 days.

Apply a mixture of grated tomato with 2-3 drops of lime juice on the face. Leave it for 20 minutes before washing off. Do this twice a day for 15-20 days for best results.

Once again...another question about being dark. I'm many cultures there is this notion that the lighter you are the better and more attractive you are. It's nothing to be ashamed of or looked down up.
Anyhow if your worried about getting burned by the sun try not to spend as much time as you do in it. On really sunny days you might wanna cover up a lil more, also always use sunscreen.

Black is beautiful, as long as it looks natural and it's not a dark spot here and a dark spot there. Kinda like Michael Jackson. : )
Go to a natural store like Whole Foods, if there's one out there and find a cream that's about SPF UVA & UVB 30 or even higher, like 55 that's made specifically for the face and another one made for your body. Its a little thick so put it on your face sparingly.

You said you don't want a hat, and you know all about the creams. The only things left is for me to tell you to use an umbrella (it does wonders), which covers your whole body or you can use sun block, it does wonders too. Otherwise if they all don't work for you then just stay indoors when it's sunny, especially between 10h00 and 16h00, that's when the sun is the strongest.

Use a good sunblock like Estee Lauder or Dermatologist brand by Dermatologica. Additionally, use a gentle scrub, to exfoliate your skin daily... The scrub will get rid of Melanin - which is a substance that causes dark pigmentation. A good cleanser that contains Licorice also is effective!!!

It shouldn't be a matter of being too dark, the important thing is risk of skin cancer. It has been widely believed that the darker the skin, the greater immunity against skin cancer, but it is not the case. All skin runs the risk of cancer, it is important to wear sunblock. I had 3 spots removed at age 20, I've had to be sunsmart ever since.

I think dark skin is great. If that's the natural reaction on the sun on your skin, then just accept it. I'm native american and I look like a different person in the summertime. Hey, it's still me.

what'd you mean "too dark"??

were you white before and now becoming too tan? if thats the case just stay inside more, cover up when you go out, and use good sunscreen. its the only way.

if you were already dark..then you shouldnt worry about it.
i had a friend who was already very dark skinned, and she'd cover herself cuz she didnt want to get any "blacker," which is ridiculous.

or you could move somewhere colder, cuz california's the worst place to be if you DONT wanna get tan.
