Benadryl isn't harmful to dogs. It won't cause your dog to vomit and have diarrhea. Some vets even prescribe benadryl for a dog who has allergies. The worst it will do your dog is make it fall asleep.

Dogs vomit all the time for a wide variety of reasons. Unless your dog is vomitting every hour or so (or vomiting blood), I wouldn't worry about it too much. Some otherwise normal dogs vomit about once a week. It's nothing too serious.

Dogs also get diarrhea a lot. They tend to eat anything and everything that they come into contact with. This can upset their stomach and cause loose bowel movements.

HOWEVER, if your dog has blood in it's vomit or stool, I recommend getting a deworming powder from a pet store. It usually runs about $15-$20 for a course of treatment. You mix it in with their water and food.

Worms will make a dog vomit blood and have bloody diarrhea. In my experience, worms are the most common cause of bloody excrement. But, it's easy and cheap to fix without a visit to the vet.

If the deworming powder doesn't work, and it continues to vomit and have diarhhea, you should take your dog to a vet.

Hope that helped!

TAKE HIM TO THE VET! Or, at least call a vet or emergency animal clinic. I'm not sure what benadryl does to dogs, but I know that human meds usually are poisinous for dogs. Vomiting and diarhea together are a very bad combination. If he didn't get a hold of benadryl, it could be something really serious like parvo or distemper. Human meds can also cause long term problems for dogs. I've been in your situation before, except with advil, and I know it sucks. I wish you the best of luck!!!

Itchy ears are usually an indication of an allergy. Benadryl is frequently prescribed by vets for dogs--usually children's for toy breeds and regular adult for a dog your size. Unfortunately, Shar Pei are known to have lots of skin problems caused by allergies. Sometimes food allergies cause itchy ears. If you think that might be the cause, you need to find out about elimination diets to identify the problem foods. This has to be done carefully and correctly or you can get yourself in a real mess so you should do some research before doing anything diet-wise.

I would get him to a vet. It is not likely the Benadryl, depending on how much he ate. Benadryl dosage for dogs is approx 1mg per pound of body weight. (I had a dog with skin allergies and used to give to him per vet's instructions) Anyway, I would get him to the vet in the morning. If there is blood in vomit or stool, I'd get to the emergency clinic tonight. I hope he is ok. Good Luck.
p.s. don't give him anything to eat or drink tonight.

Benadryl should not hurt him my 15 pound dog takes them for long road trips. My brothers dog has to take benadryl in the summer alot because of the weather. You need to get your dog to the vet because I don't think he ate benadryl he may have got into something or is just sick but either way he needs to get to the vet before he gets dehydrated!!! If dogs get to dehydrated things just get worse sometime organs will start to shut down if it get to bad..but that level of dehydration takes awhile.

Hope your dog gets better soon.

The vomiting and diahrea is a sign that he has been poisoned. Call your vet or any vet in your town who does after hours apts and take him in. They have medicine they can give him to counteract the overdose. But you need to do this now or your dog will either die or have brain damage from the poisoning. And it's against the law to not take him in.

He may get really drowsy from the benadryl.

Benadryl is not harmful to a dog if he eats one. There may be something else wrong with your dog.We have to give our dog benadryl every day during certain times of the year for allergies.

Benadryl will not hurt the dog unless it is a very small dog. My vet suggested i give my dog benadryl for a long ride she had to take so it's not poisonous to them. maybe it was something else.

If he is over 25 lbs, and it was a normal benadryl he should be fine, but if he is smaller I would call your vet because he has eaten too big of an amount for his size. Even if he is over 25 lbs, I would call your vet.
