You are given a gas mask and told not to put it on until they say so. In comes tear gas and you sit there and take it. It isn't good but then again it isn't too bad. You then put on your mask and get out of there. Your eyes burn for awhile but it is over. Imagine what would happen if it were nerve gas?

Well the above are almost 100% spot on. I went through that gas chamber in 1998. Just a bit of CS gas and then out you go. Lots of fun. One thing about that chamber. When you get ready to get out alot of people like to run out once they see a bit of daylight. Just so that you know there is a tree dead ahead from the exit. So when you come out take a right and head back to your ruck.

Have fun. Good Luck

Your skin and eyes will byurn, but just remember not to rub your eyes. Once you get out into the air, the effects will wear off quickly. I went through the gas chamber at Ft. Polk twice in 1970,because I dropped mu helmet while removing my gas mask while in the gas chamber.

walk in five at a time. line up against a wall and the DS will come up to each on of you and ask you to close your eyes and lift your mask then maybe ask you to say something. Then you put your mask back down and clear it by blowing out and breathing a few breathes before opening your eyes. Then after all five in the group do this they are then moved forward along the wall to the door. The recruits are then told to remove their masks and open their eyes and take a breath. When all five have done this then you WALK out of the door and wave your arms and mask to get the smoke away from you. Big whoop it will make your eyes burns and you will cough.

We called it The Disco Hut. You put your mask on outside, check the seal, and then go inside. You have to take your mask off and say something like your name and hometown before they let you out. Then you walk it off on a track for a few minutes in the fresh air. The best part is after you are done walking the gas off and can breathe and see again- you can go back and watch the others come out and see who is drooling, who has 3 feet of snot from their nose, who pukes, etc. Good times. Make sure you remove your dog tags before going in, if you get the tear gas on them they will burn like fire on your skin.

From what I've heard, its a gas.

No way to describe it. just go through it. However, if you have asthma or severe allergies, I'd advise you not to go in due to the risk of collasped lung or what not.

If this does not apply, do not worry about it, you will do fine.

The gas chamber is where your breath will be short gasping for oxygen. It is just like during the holocaust where the Jews were killed in gas chambers.
