I think my cat is retarded. She meows at the wall while sitting so close to it that her nose it touching it. And everytime she comes close to a plastic bag from the market, she licks it, sometimes for hours. Is my cat retarded or is this "normal" cat behavior?

Haha, I love this question. My husband & I (affectionately) call out kitten retarded because she LOVES plastic bags, be careful, because mine, I thought she was licking it, tried to eat it and almost choked, but anyway, Pumpkin also loves to jump 'on' the white wall. Cats have intense eyesight so if she sees dust particles or shadows or hears something in the wall she will sit and stare/jump/meow, until she gets bored. Very natural.

ya i have a cat that does the same thing. I dont know why but she likes to lick plastic bags or the bag that the toilet paper comes from...kinda the same material. Theres nothing wrong with your cat. Some cats do the same thing. So dont worry about it! And for the reason...have no clue...but its not a issue where the cat isnt getting enough attention or nervous...the cat just likes to lick it for some other reason.

well my cat doesn't meow at walls...but he's got a major infatuation with plastic!! Anything that's waxy as a matter of fact. He loves to eat tape, and starburst wrappers...anything wih that feel to it. It's a complex that some cats have. Kinda like OCD for kitties. So it's perfectly normal...have no fear!!
LOL It's really funny that I read this when I did because my cat just jumped up on my computer desk and took my plastic wrapper off my cigarette box....haha perfect timing lol

Your cat is ok, one of my cats chews plastic bags of any type and my other cat sits and meows at the wardrobe all the time

well, my cat licks printed photographs, perhaps something in the plastic appeals to your cat or there is a smell she wants to eliminate. As forthe wall, mine does that when he is hungry.

mine stares at the wall too. I think she is asleep with her eyes opened.lol as for the plastic bags she likes the way it feels on her tongue or is looking to groom or nurture something...ANYTHING ! mine liked to lick Downy fabric softener off blue jeans.
I switched to a different scent. But when company came, she told us what fabric softener they used.!!!
also I noticed when I have 2 cats they just groom each other but then they both stared at the wall. lol

just a cat.Its the smell from the plastic bag that they like. Cats are very playful and its normal.Try to watch animal planet and you will see what animals do.
