Not just from the initial collision, I don't remember that at all but like short-term memory loss after the fact, I can't seem to remember anything......I even had to think about knowing how to spell "loss" for a long time. :(

Yes absolutely! It's actually very common to have memory loss of the time around when the injury occured. However, it sounds like your memory loss is more serious than the average concussion. It also depends on how long it has been since your accident (the more recent the injury the better for you).

Without testing, no one here will be able to tell you what is wrong exactly. You need to go to a doctor - preferably your family doctor, but any will do - and get a referral to see a neurologist right away!!! This is very serious!!!

When I was sixteen, I wrecked my car and got a concussion bad enough to put me in the hospital for a few days. I didn't remember anything for a period around the accident, and forgot a whole lot of other stuff about my life, too. It was pretty weird. I had been keeping quite a journal and it was very interesting to read about me from the view of someone who didn't know...

This was years ago, before they had MRIs and all that so there really wasn't a whole lot they could do but "watch" me (which is still pretty much all they do, I suspect). After awhile, most of it came back and my day to day memory capabilities gradually returned to normal....it just takes awhile (as in more than a month).

Yes! I suffered a blow to the head at age 60 or so that put me in the hospital and required brain surgery to relieve the pressure of a developing bruise to the brain. I didn't participate in anything after the injury though others said I walked around talked and seemed normal until a couple weeks after the surgery. I don't to this day remember much but a few glimpses when in the hospital until I fully woke up in a mental ward after recovering from the surgery. The total period of amnesia was several months.I have had no trouble remembering after that. You may have sustained brain damage , which manifests itself later in memory impairment.

I lost 24 hours of memory after an accident. Not right away but a day later when I went home. I got home went to bed on a Monday, got up on Tuesday but didn't remember Tuesday. I was told on Wednesday that I was out visiting on Tuesday but I didn't remember that. Now I have trouble remembering my dogs name. But my long term memory is better then ever. All depends on what part of the brain gets injured and how bad.

Concussions happens when your brain has suffered a certain degree of trauma. The trauma will cause your brain to swell. When your brain swells, parts of it will be pressed against your skull. This can result in impaired motor skills, blindness and....memory loss.

Best bet is to rest and follow Doctors orders.

Take care and rest well

cheers
