A black, chocolate, or yellow lab, are basically the same. They are the same breed, exept, chocolates were not recognized by AKC until a few years ago. They are just a cross between black and yellow. Same breed, different color.... A nice way to pick is the color of your carpet, or clothes you usually wear. For instance, if you wear a black uniform or suit to work everyday, , go with black. They are year round shedders. And be ready to run...

No difference, just the color. Labs are no more hyper than Goldens. Both are highly intelligent dogs, and are easy to train to do about anything. The person who responded to you telling you get a Golden Retriever, has no clue what hes talking about. Yes Goldens are smart, but no smarter than a Lab. He obviously has a Golden, and is trying to make you think his breed of dog is better. They are not. Both are great dogs, both smart, but BOTH can be hyper, and labs are great family dogs, and are better watchdogs to boot. You get the best of both worlds with a Lab. And no, I do not own a Lab,So I'm not trying to defend them but I have been a certified dog trainer for 25 years, and have trained all breeds of dogs, with the majority being Labs, and Goldens. Don't let bad advice steer you wrong. I have yet to see a Golden that is any less hyper than a Lab. The key to keeping any dog happy and less hyper is to spend time playing with it(even just a few minuets a day makes a huge difference), and a daily walk.

I think both of the colour will not matter but you need to be gentle with Labrador Dog there are very understanding creature.
Wash your dog once a week if your dog lives with you in a house.and try to give dog food you get in a store is good for dog health. You can teach your Labrador dog there are good leaner.

No difference just color. How ever if you are going for a purebred you can have good information about the dogs. I have a black lab and he's great. A purebred and his mother was champion many times in a row for temperment, among other things, and his father was a champ too for hunting. You sure can tell too.
So with a lab or any other dog I would definately look over the family history.

Good luck!

yellow means the dog is actually off white, harder to maintain but looks better than a black dog but then again colour is a personal choice, chocolate is dark brown and easier to maintain but anyway one needs to bathe the dog every 3 weeks or so..........so if you want to keep a dog be ready for the dedicated work otherwise you are giving yourself a royal headache.

The only difference is their color. Well, that and the fact that Chocolate Labs are more rare than the Yellow Labs. Chocolate Labs themselves aren't rare, but just seeing an owner with one is more rare than seeing an owner with a Yellow or Black Lab.

Other than color, there is no difference. The difference is the breeding line. English labs are the easiest & in my opinion better looking ( more of a boxed muzzle than the American line). Labs in general are a handful. They need lots of excersise. At least one 45 minute walk per day. No less. If they are not excersised, they can become destructive, develope seperation anxiety. Not to mention the fact labs put on weight easily. I see soooo many over weight labs. Labs are a great family pet & fairly easy to train if worked with. Smart, but very energetic! :O)

Nothing but the color. Labs shed a lot, so consider which color will blend in more with your home decor and clothing....=)

I have had several labs. They are great dogs, and have wonderful personalities! They are very active and easy to train....but they do tend to suffer from canine ADHD. Meaning that when there is a distraction around, they don't even hear your voice. So keep a good leash handy, and make sure you have a nice big yard for playing ball.

Good luck!

The only difference in the two is the color. They are the same the dog breed with the same temperments. Labs tend to be very active and destructive when young (they mature very slowly
) and require a lot of exercise.
