I wouldn't say he's protected, he's beaten some decent fighters, but the one thing that all these guys at this weight class are guilty of is that they have not fought each other. Mayweather, Cotto, Hatton, Margarito, one of them should have fought the other by now, but they all seem to want to fight other fighters instead of each other. The one thing that the great fighters of the 80's in these divisions did was go up against each other, Leonard, Hearns, Hagler, and Duran all fought each other and that's why all four are Hall of Fame fighters. I agree with you, Cotto should be fighting Margarito and it's a shame that he's not. The sport would benefit greatly from having the best possible match ups materialize.

By your assumption then , Mayweather and Oscar DelaHoya are in the same boat since they were maneged by the same PROMOTER and experienced the same treatment Arum is giving to Cotto. You say that a natural welter and former champion like Judah should not be consider as a serious opponent ? what has Hatton done lately at 147 to be consider a better competition for Cotto ?
And by the way Margarito is fighting Paul Williams , his mandatory and he was supposed to fight Cotto in June , so what is your point? are you suggesting Cotto is ducking Margarito LOL
That was the scheduled fight you moron.
Protecting him for Puerto Rican ppvs ??? , LOL
Do you even Know what your talking about ?

Judah is just as good as Hatton or Margarito. Cotto can beat all of these guys. Any of these guys fighting each other would be entertaining fights. Margarito and Judah are even fighters as far as ability goes. Hatton has a little more power. Cotto has more power than all of them.

Cotto is solid yet no longer the most ideal fighter immediately. in the welter branch, you've Paul Williams, Clottey, Margo and Berto. He want to sparkling the dep. and we may be able to initiate talking about the most ideal fighter. Mosley and Judah are maximum ideal guy's on his resume. Quintana did not beat no one and were given a undefeated record for beating no one's. Margo is an effective initiate for Cotto. Cotto don't have a lost yet no longer waiting to bounce the gun. Cintron in trouble-free terms solid for beating no one's yet nonetheless like him. Judah is washup yet would properly be dangersous. Mosley previous correct and Oscar. Quintana a stepping stone. Cotto is undefeated and maximum ideal in the Welter now. Berto has the belt yet nonetheless has to educate he can rumble with the tremendous boy's. that is at the same time as he receives his credit from the followers, media etc. Margo---36-5 supply anybody a lengthy evening. Paul Williams---34-a million can supply anybody complications, want to mature a touch and imagine he discovered. Clottey----34-2 over regarded and unsafe. Berto----22--0 havent fought each and each and every individual yet.

I wouldnt say Cotto is the most overrated, overhyped and protected fighter right now. I would say either Mayweather or Hatton is. I think Cotto is a decent fighter so far. I cant wait to see him tested though with a good experienced fighter. I believe he will have his first loss handed to him if him and Margartio fight this summer.

Not really. I think the most overrated, overhyped and protected fighter today is Floyd Mayweather Jr. A younger Dela Hoya will surely beat this guy. And had he fought in the welterweight era of Ray Leonard, Duran, Benitez and Hearns, we wouldn't even be talking about him.

Cotto,in my opinion, is in the top 5 pound-for-pound list. Are you aware that his last 5 opponents combined only had 2 losses. That has got to be saying something. He came back to knock out undefeated Ricardo Torres after a 2nd-round knockdown. He demolished Carlos Quintana, an undefeated fighter, who has a tremendous KO ratio. He outboxed savvy tactician Paulie Malignaggi, again an undefeated opponent. He handed DeMarcus Corley a beating, and handed Kelson Pinto and Carlos Maussa their first losses.

Quintana was at his best, and many people were expecting Quintana to frustrate Cotto the full 12. Instead, Cotto bombed him out.
You want overrated, overhyped, and overprotected? Try...
Audley Harrison
Paul Williams
Jeff Lacy - before beind dismantled by Calzaghe. Now a shot fighter, in my view).
Bernard Hopkins - the American boxing press love him, yet apart from beating Tarver, I can't see what the big deal is. Avoided James Toney. He fights a boring, methodical style and gets praised for it by people like the folks at RING Magazine, yet when Lennox Lewis tried to box in a methodical, calculated manner, he was ostracised by the very same people who praise Hopkins.

judah isn't a has been, he gave mayweather all he could handle in the first 5 rounds. judah is still going to give cotto a shitload of problems with his speed and power. paulie malignaggi was tagging with cotto with a lot of shots, only problem was that malignaggi couldn't punch himself out of a wet paper bag. judah on the other hand is faster than malignaggi and punches way harder than malignaggi. i think judah could pull off the upset and KO cotto.
