Most likely, she has had big expectations in the past and then was let down and hurt. some people expect their significant other to do something really big and special for valentines day in order to prove that they really care about them. When it does not happen up to their dreams or expectatioins, feelings of hurt, being not cherished or as loved as they thought they would feel can make a person end up hating valentines day.

Maybe she had a really bad experience with a prior valentine's day (maybe not with you, but with a previous boyfriend) if you feel that's the case try extra to make valentine's day really special. The alternative is she's down to earth and realizes it's more important to show someone daily that you love them instead of waiting for one day a year to pitch in a little effort.

Maybe there were times when she felt left out on Valentine's Day because she didn't receive any Valentine's card, candy or flowers. I can relate to that. Anyway, why do we need a special day to tell someone we love them?

I think some people just feel too much pressure to perform and be something they are not------or really cheap skates----try talking to her about this Valentines day is a very special day and the pressure does not need to exist

Because it is a made up, greeting card holiday. I do not like it. Yoou should not need 1 day a year to show someone you love them it should be done everyday. Why spend all this money to say I love you when it should be done everyday of the year.
Be thankful she hates it now you are not wxpected to go all out every year.

Don't buy her anything for sure. But when you hang out you can try to make it special, if it makes you feel better. And give the gifts to her on other days, and you can tell her since she said " for good relationships its like saying you only need to care or express you care on that day " You felt like giving her gifts on a randomn day and make it fun.

chip on her shoulder from a past relationship or emulates the behaviour of others whom hold a pessimistic outlook on love and other things. there is a certain disgruntled poeticism to saying bah humbug or bah love. Some just don't like holidays cause they dislike materialism or christian influence.

and when you've spent a few alone you dislike it and it's hard to switch gears and run with a diff crowd sometimes.

All it takes is one jerk who screwed her over and didn't bring her a card, gift, or flowers or even make plans to go out to dinner with her............ We are so sensative about those things and once a girl has been devistated and humiliated by a man they loved deeply - that fear (deep fear ) sets in and she would rather protect herself by insisting she HATES this day RATHER than put her heart and emotions on the line and risk reliving that same old situation again.................. Regardless of the fact that YOU weren't the original offender...................

Sorry Dude.

could be something special that happened that reminds her of an ex that you don't know about. pick a different day and month to celebrate valentines day and to buy each other stuff and be romantic. see if that helps
