then why didn't he just forgive us already? Why did he require the death of an innocent man before he could forgive us?

That's one thing that doesn't really make any sense to me!

He wasn't an innocent man. Jesus was the son of God. God loved the world that he sent his only son. God made a sacrifice and so did Jesus. If He simply just forgave us, what would be the point of having sin.
It's just like saying why don't we just forgive someone who cheats. If we automatically forgive someone who cheats, they will never feel remorse for their actions.
God wanted us to feel remorse for our actions so that we don't repeat them and that we truly understand the sacrifices that had to be made so we could be forgiven.

A blood sacrifice was always required for the purification of sins even long before God sent Jesus to be that final sacrifice for all. Who knows why? We aren't God. Who are we, in our limited logic & limited knowledge to question the One who created all? Science has proved we use less than 10% of our brains. Are we really so foolish to believe that we can understand the mind of God? That's just the way it is. Now we have a choice to believe and accept the gift or deny it and die in sin. As much as I hate that a life had to be sacrificed for me I'm thankful that He did it.

Because we couldn't escapes Adam and Eve's sin.
Jesus had to come down and show an example of the right things to do and even get baptized in front of everyone to show how to get rid of sins.the only way his word could be remembered is by him dieing.
God only required his death because the people still wouldn't except his word and the only way his word could be remembered is by him dieing. That's our own fault. Not Gods choice really he would have prefered Jesus to live.If people believed strong enough he wouldn't of died.We would of lived in peace and killing him only proved to God that we wer'nt ready.
God gave us the power of freewill.Which Proves that God can't do everthing .If he could then why can't he make us all believe.
He made us the way we are cause life for him probably would of been boreing otherwise. It wouldn't have true meaning to him if he couldn't make us believe with his words alone. His words are powerful enough to make everything around us but not powerful enough to make us obey.Believe it or not.

Your a lazy person who doesn't like to think. God wouldn't make it an automatic thing for you to be forgiven your sins because there would be no reason to not do them again if you were to automatically be forgiven. Before Jesus it took the blood of a lamb which was as near perfect in the flock to be forgiven. This seems cruel to some but it had it's place. You have a choice and to have God's Holy Spirit to guide you, you need to be serious about your intentions of trying your best not to sin anymore.

Jesus' Death was foretold in the scriptures alomost 2000 years prior to HIS coming. HE was the Messiah that came, taught, was murdered on the Roman Cross, was buried, arose, stayed among them for 40 days, and ascended into heaven. Study these scriptures and see what you think. To become a Christian:
1. HEAR - Romans 10:14 How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?
2. BELIEVE - In Mark 16:16, Jesus said “He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.”
3. REPENT - Luke 13:3 I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.
4. CONFESS CHRIST - 1 Timothy 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
5. BE BAPTIZED - Romans 6:3-4 do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
6. CONTINUE TO BE FAITHFUL - Jesus said in Matthew 7:21 "Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.”
Send me a note if you have questions. I am anxious to hear from you. Have a Great day.

not everyone wants to be forgiven or chooses to be(unbelievers). It was that way until adam and eve brought sin into the world.
to answer ALL your questions that you are asking in different ways about jesus dying.
God granted jesus the power to stop everything(crucifixion)and suffering and such if he wanted.
but jesus being concerned about our souls and wanting to follow gods will, told god when he was praying in the garden that he wanted gods will to be done and not his own. jesus could have stopped it all and left things as they were in the old testament but he CHOSE to go through with it even though he knew what lied ahead.
ALSO the bible says in proverbs that we shouldnt lean on our on understanding.SO in other words quit questioning everything, because we wouldnt understand gods ways of doing things.

This life is short, it's like entering a room from one door and leaving it from another door. There's nothing called sacrifice, everybody should care for himself and do good. Don't expect to bad all your life and at the end to be forgiven. All holy books ask people to be good and not to do sins, if you don't obey, you are responsible

We're a complex people. As we grow, our lives become more and more complicated and we question everything, wanting answers.

No doubt he could. But who would tell us? Would we believe it? He sent Jesus down to tear apart the temple veil so that anyone could approach God. In short, to make us clean.

sin can only be forgiven through blood shed. and being how Jesus knew no sin he had no debt to pay. and for Jesus being God, his blood shed is enough to pay the debt of all who have sinned.

truly you are forgiven once you ask for forgiveness. for your debt he is eager to pay, all you need to do now is "OK" Jesus to pay it.

in this God showed his great love for the world, so that while we were still sinners he died for us.

i hope that this helped you. if not, if i missed the point of your question in anyways please feel free to send me a e mail.

God bless you friend.

Because someone needed to pay the penalty for us.A judge wouldn't be a good one if he just said "what the heck,I'll forgive everyone,no one needs to pay a price".Jesus paid the price.
