well you see fossils do exist, and scientists have case studies that show the evolutionary process taking place.(EG: Galapagos islands). also they see that primates and humans have striking similarities, a big one would be opposable thumbs. they've uncovered species of apes that follow the logical progression from ape to man. you didn't write your question here so it makes it difficult to answer and my memory is abstract, so i hope this answers your question.

Pay a visit to the Field Museum in Chicago. Right now they are doing an exhibit called evolving planet, they have all kinds of "link" species on display including those for humans. I went in October and it was really amazing.
