I have had problems with my tonsils since I was a child. They actually once wanted to take my tonsils out but it never happened and I have no idea why. I have continued to have problems and I am thinking of having them removed. I have heard there is a point when you are too old. Is this true?

Hi,
I am 28yrs old and had mine out on Monday, due to swelling, infections recurring and difficulty breathing. It has been 4 days the pain is not horrible but I have been talking funny and there is a lot of Silvia build up that's hard to get past eating seems to be out of the question but I was sent to an ear nose throat specialist by my primary they say it is all worth it no matter the age.

The decision to take out an adults tonsils is a significant one. It is not a desperately common procedure these days. They tend to shrink on their own as the years go by.

There is only a point to the procedure if the tonsils themselves are becoming enlarged and inflamed several times a year. If you are just getting recurrent sore throats tonsillectomy will make no difference,

you can have them removed at any time. especially if it's a continuing problem. just know, it's more painful the older you get. the roots of the tonsills get deeper therefore the surgeon needs to go in deeper. I had mine taken out when I was...26 or 27, it was VERY painful. BUT I don't regret it. I had so many problems I couldn't stand it anymore.

If you get frequent infections, swelling, if your tonsills have what looks like several pockets filled with a substance that's thick and white, that's infection. Mine were bad!! Always infected, coughing up white little things of pus and they were always swollen because of my allergies. YUCK!!!!!

But if you need to have it done just do it and get it over with. If your doctor still recommends it...do it. Very Painful...just remember that!

Know the asteroid wellhead tonsil stones them for many years and it's been title not eventually.

Best decision I've ever made! I was shocked by the way of getting out the stones out. It was so easy, but more importantly, painless. I really liked the little trick he had for preventing gag reflex. He have one happy customer here.
