Don't be afraid to tell the doctor or nurse who is giving you the shot that you're nervous. They can help give you advice and probably know some tricks that have helped other people; after all, they must see thousands of needle-phobics over the course of their careers. If the person is insensitive or you just don't feel comfortable with them, don't feel bad about asking for someone else and clarify that it's okay with you if you have to wait. If it helps to distract you, bring music or something small you can play with/squeeze.

I took someone with me. I would hold their hand and squeeze tightly and I would hum.
Also, if you do not like the person who will give you the injection or you are not comfortable with the way that they are attending to you ask for someone else. I have very hard to find veins and as a child I used to cry because some nurses were so rough. My dad would say that he would give me a dollar (that was a loooong time) ago if I did not cry. Obviously that won't work with you, BUT if hand-holding and finding a caring professional who can give you a needle doesn't work tell yourself that you will do something special for yourself or for someone else if you don't cry.
I also tried clothes pins on my ears. I had read that a dentist used that. It helped transfer the pain.
Or you might try soothing music on your MP3 player.
Good luck. I am rooting for you.

Many people are afraid of needles. A lot of them are adults, even doctors and nurses! You just have to be brave, simple as that.
2 Months ago I was required to get 5 injections before entering a nursing program. The woman who gave these injections to me was a student nurse as well. Meaning, she didn't have much experience. I was so nervous that I got dizzy, cold, and clammy. But you know what.....I survived. And I'm quite certain that you will survive your next injection as well:)

well first of all if you do need t take regular shots, and if you are going to do blood test for example..just think about other people who suffer great illnesses and they need to do surgery's or people has greater problems than you have, and tell yourself its a matter of seconds and I will be through, and close your eyes and dare your self for doing it, believe me you will get the courage , but if you make yourself scared you will give yourself a bad and ugly 2 minutes for nothing...good luck

Don't get any shots or use needles. You will just get sick and die....but you won't have to worry about the shots anymore. God Bless!

Nobody likes them...unless they are drug addicts. You're either going to have to stay healthy or suck it up and deal with it when you're sick or getting checked out. Sorry, but it's the truth. Think of it as the greater good...it's happening for a reason - to make or keep you healthy.

Pinch yourself in another area and concentrate on the pain from the pinching. You can distract yourself from the pain of the shot.

Always look away when you get them and breath in and out. Don't tense up either. The doctor will usually do it quickly when you are loose anyway.
