It's GastroEsophageal Reflux Disease. It's caused when your stomach produces too much acid and it goes up your esophagus causing pain....often like heartburn. I have it and I take Prilosec for it daily. It reduces the amount of acid your stomach produces. It acts up if I eat rich or spicy foods. For some people it acts up when they lie down. For immediate temporary relief you can take something like Tums or Rolaids. I take Pepcid Complete because it does the same thing as Tums and Rolaids (neutralizes acid) and it also reduces the production of acid. If you're worried that the problem is chronic go see your Dr. or a gastroenterologist. Best Wishes! :)

I take Prolasic and Nexium. I watch my diet, but splurge on spicy food on occasion and pay the price for it. I usually carry Tums with me at all times. You can live with this, if it is a hiatal hernia causing the Gerd, that is something else.

I had GERD. Been on pills for 3 years... Prevacid. It prevents acid production. See your Doctor or Gastroenterologist.
