What would it take? Would that even do it?

An appearance by god (any god) would certainly be convincing. Say if Jesus or Moses or whoever had been alive for the last several thousand years, walking the Earth, performing miracles on a regular basis, and preaching their philosophy.

That would be convincing.

I am an agnostic.. the only thing an appearance of any god/s would do is provide the proof to convince me that god/s do exist. That doesnt mean I would instantly follow the religion of that god. I have my own beliefs and my own morals, opinions, sense of justice etc.. I do not agree with any organized theistic religions teachings therefore even if the existence of whatever god was proven, it doesnt mean I would instantly jump on the bandwagon.. I am not afraid to stand up for what I personally believe in, even if it means burning in hell.

I simply would just admit that god/s do exist and continue to live my life as I see fit, according to my morals if they followed whatever god/s description of its "worshippers" then so be it, if my personal beliefs conflicted with that god/s teachings then oh well.. thats too bad for whatever god/s... because I wont be a part of anything that goes against my personal morality no matter what punishments that may deserve.

I would not choose a religion without an appearance by god, even an appearance by god can be faked, these days.

I probably wouldn't choose a religion even with an appearance by god. Have you seen the things people can do with special effects these days? Not to mention mind altering gasses etc. No, it would have to be something other than just god showing up and saying howdy to convince me.

I know a lot of atheists who are into Buddhism, but whether that is a religion depends on your definition of same. It certainly has no deities.

Personally, I don't need God(s). Why do I have the impression when you say God you mean Christian God? I bet Vishnu and the 30.000 others would be most displeased.

You seem to miss the point. Whether or not you use a capital "g" has no influence...an atheist doesn't believe in the existence of ANY god.

There are some spiritual philosophies, such as Buddhism, which are also atheistic by nature. I tend to agree with a lot of their teachings; however, I do disagree with the supernatural aspects of the philosophy.

Sure. In fact, I already identify with a particular non-theistic religion. There are a number of non-theistic religions out there to choose from, if you shop around.

no. i don't think so.

it is not just the belief in god but the organised religions that use their beliefs as an excuse to bring destruction into the world.

... an atheistic religion you mean? Some atheists are in those kinds of religions already. Buddhism for example.

Or do you mean something else...?
