I don't want to offend anyone, but I'm going to assume that your of some sort of Af. American decent with an afro that big...if that's true and you want your big afro to 'lay down', you could get someone to flat-iron it for you (unless you know how to use flat-irons yourself), after washing and blow-drying it...this will make it lie down with a little body, without it looking like you've had the Al Sharpton done.

you could get someone to do an old-fashioned straightening comb job on it, but you'll have to go to a salon to ensure that your hair isn't burnt in this process. you could go with a straightening perm, but if you've never had one, it could burn your scalp or break off your hair and you should definitely have this done in a salon also. the hot comb and the perm will make your hair really, really straight and it will definately "lay down".

p.s. i think an oil treatment is more or less for hair conditioning and repair, i don't think it makes your hair "lay down", though it will make your hair more managable.

on the other hand, if you are white, i have no good idea or suggestions on how to make your 'afro' 'lay down'. Sorry.

Go to a hairstylist and get it permed straight then rolled. But BEWARE You cant wash it it will frizz out, I did that back in the day it was beautiful for a minute
